The Company:
Our Client is a world leading Automotive OEM which is responsible for some of the most iconic 4x4's & Sports Cars produced. Due to the huge demand for current models and substantial investment in future projects there is a requirement for more resources across the business in engineering & manufacturing on a contract basis.

The Role:
Our client has opportunities for high calibre and experienced Manufacturing Engineers to join their new Power Train Advanced Manufacturing Engineering team. This team is developing to support future engine developments in support of our client’s range of vehicles. You will be involved with developing new, technologically advanced power train for our current and future model lines. The Power Train Manufacturing Engineering (PTME) department are responsible for the development and introduction of new and modified processes and facilities associated with new model introductions and model year changes, within Test. You will be part of the Test team, working closely with Product Development Engineers, Facility vendors and Tooling Suppliers to ensure that component and whole engine designs meet world class quality and efficiency standards. The role will involve European & Overseas travel.
• You will utilise your knowledge to develop and implement of test processes and facilities to deliver the safety, quality delivery and cost objectives.
• Strategic planning and development and implementation of installation timing plans with key selected Suppliers also form part of this role.
The overall responsibility of this role is to be part of a team of engineers responsible for the planning and implementation of new and major changes to engine manufacturing test facilities.
With particular emphasis on the following:
• Development of test procedures in close collaboration with engineering.
• Planning, developing and implementation of test processes and facilities.
• Provide feasibility statements for Product Development designs to suit manufacturing build requirements.
• Ensure robust process planning including build simulations and FMEA’s
• Support virtual build events raising and championing issues where appropriate.
• Support test process strategy for manufacturing.
• Prepare, issue and evaluate supplier ‘Request for Quotations’
• Test process & equipment verification at suppliers and at home manufacturing facility.
• Application of Lean manufacturing & design for assembly principles.
• Support management activities through development and monitoring of timing plans
• Ensure adherence to company and departmental operating processes and policies
• Achieve Equipment Capability targets of all new & modified facilities, including OPR, MTTR, MTBF
Whitley & Wolverhampton, other global client sites as required

Essential Experience & Qualifications:
1. Experience in specifying, delivering and launching end-of-line and in-line test equipment (e.g. leak test, torque to turn, helium leak test, Cold Test, Hot Test or Dyno)
2. Project management experience of delivering new or modified equipment into a production facility
3. Engineering qualification - HNC or above. Preferably Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering.

Skills, experience and qualifications required:
• Good IT skills and awareness of Process Authoring Tool (GSPAS), simulation and virtual toolsets i.e. Digital-buck, Process Simulate and CATIA V5, Byteworx’s and Sciemetric Qualityworx
• Good knowledge of MS Office Applications (PowerPoint, Excel, Word and Project).
• Candidates should be self-motivated with sound leadership and communication skills.
• Knowledge, experience and understanding of engine testing: Cold test, Hot runs and Dyno (audit) test and ability to analyse and interpretation of data output from test facilities.
• Ability to work within cross-functional teams and flexibility to support projects from early concepts to Launch at any of our clients sites.
• Knowledge and experience of PCDS (or similar) and LQOS deliverables and timing
• Ideally understanding of our clients Facility Procurement and H&S procedures
• Previous experience of facility Installation, commissioning and product Launch.
• Facility system validation and handover to Manufacturing.
• A good understanding of engineering including the ability to review engineering drawings.
• Ideally, educated to Degree level in Manufacturing Systems or a similar engineering discipline. Candidates with HNC / HND and the relevant experience would be considered.

Desirable Experience & Qualifications:
Ability to travel to global locations to support our client’s expansion.
Foreign languages are also an advantage, German, Italian or Chinese.
