The Company:
Is a leading Automotive manufacturer with a reputation for outstanding quality the world over. With demand increasing and an upturn in production, there is a need to bring further skills into the business to deliver on current and future projects.

The Role:
Deliver Engineering systems and components to meet the requirements of the Project Description Brochure. Responsible for the specification , test and validation plan to achieve the cost , weight , timing and quality targets for the project.Achieve engineering signoff for systems and components in area of responsibility.


1) Support and Lead Design Development
- Take the lead in Design and development of technology in area of responsibility
- Advanced ability to capture and specify the design requirements in area of responsibility
- Lead the Engineering test and validation planning and sign off for systems and components in area of responsibility
- Lead Engineering release and change management process
- Responsible for carrying out required steering functional test work activities including actual vehicle testing and measurement .This includes data acquisition and analysis to provide confirmation of target achievements
- Responsible for carrying out and supporting relevant functional safety integrity testing for electrical controlled steering system to ensure product meets ISO26262 standard.

2) Delivery of projects
- Responsible for planning and managing project related activities on a throughout a complete project development
- Reporting of project status for area of responsibility in cross functional and project teams
- Advanced understanding of cross functional working with other areas of the business
- Lead an initiate working with suppliers for progressing project deliverables
- Basic financial awareness of their role in the organisation
- Knowledge of cost of parts and systems with an understanding of value engineering

3) Problem Solving
- Ability to solve Highly complex Engineering and design related problems
-Analysis and management of multiple design related issues to identify the root cause
- Collect data , manage data and analyse data to produce reports as appropriate and progress design guidelines

4) Developing and maintaining Specialist knowledge
- Responsible for keeping the functional area up-to-date with technology in area of responsibility
- Capture learning from previous experience
- Work with group partners to influence group partners to keep up to date with latest group developments

5) Ability to work within a team
- Able to work effectively in the cross functional team
- Lead contribution in delivering team objectives

Essential Skills / Qualifications:

- Higher Engineering Degree or equivalent
- Membership of a relevant professional institution and Chartered Engineering status preferable
- The applicant must hold a Full UK (or EU) Driving Licence .
- An additional high performance driving qualification and any track-based objective test work would be an advantage

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
- Ability to communicate at various levels across the company in different forums
- Design and development skills
- Ability to influence colleagues within your area of responsibility
- Understanding of financial limits within area of responsibility
- Skills required by local area
- German language preferable
- Ability to solve problems
- Understanding of Health and Safety and capability to complete risk assessment in own area


- Significant advanced knowledge of : Design and development ; Test and measurement ; Engineering drawings ; Software tools
- Understanding of Product Emergence Process (PEP)
- Experience in steering design (preferably electrical powered steering ) and test work is preferred
