The Company:
Is a leading Automotive manufacturer with a reputation for outstanding quality the world over. With demand increasing and an upturn in production, there is a need to bring further skills into the business to deliver on current and future projects.

The Role:
Provides technical strategic leadership, in depth technical knowledge and guidance, to support and ensure achievement of business objectives and technical development, for an area of expertise/business core-competence

1. Accountable for developing and influencing the strategic technical direction within a specialist area
a. Demonstrate a broad awareness of process and operational requirements within the area of expertise.
b. Responsible for the delivery of technology targets.
c. Lead and provide technical expertise for the relevant area of expertise from first principles.
d. Advise management of strategic opportunities in areas of technical expertise.
e. Lead the strategic technical direction/Technical Roadmaps within expertise area.
f. Influence industry innovations and relevant Group technical roadmap strategies.

2. Developing and maintaining expert technical and business knowledge and capability
a. Lead development of new processes and methodologies to enhance business capability and competence.
b. Integrate technical expertise into relevant departments/business areas/group.
c. Lead knowledge sharing across the business for relevant technical competences.
d. Committed to own continuous professional development.

3. Accountable for deliverables to a specified timeframe, quality and cost.
a. Ability to demonstrate deliverables status at any time with Key Performance Indicators.
b. Manage workload on a daily basis and respond to both long term and short term task requests.
c. Responsible for leading prompt concern resolution on existing processes, the coordination of resource, and ability to provide containment solutions when necesary.
d. Manage any outsourced work in the same technical area, including supplier management.
e. Manage budgetary requirements to meet KPI objectives.

4. Lead and maintain effective communication internally and within the company Group.
a. Responsibility to ensure factual and effective communication is provided at all levels, including within all cross-functional working teams.
b. Company representative for the relevant area of expertise in appropriate technical/technology meetings.
c. Responsible for the collation and presentation of relevant data in order to lead functional /cross-functional meetings.
d. Transparent issue escalation to senior management, accountable for identifying and escalating issues and risks
e. Develop relationships with counterparts in appropriate internal functions and company organisations, and provide relevant guidance to suppliers.
f. Make recommendations and effective presentations to the business in area of technical expertise, with the ability to explain and break down technical detail/direction.

5. (add relevant technical specialist knowledge in here in conjunction with skills matrix)
a. Effective scheduling and detailed planning of VR reviews
b. Defining and agreeing review specifications with internal customers
c. Coordination of data for appraisal in VR ensuring quality and suitability
d. Liaison with suppliers and partners to support the VR process
e. Conducting ergonomic appraisals using VR. Processing the ergonomic results and providing ergonomic recommendations to the Functional Manager for Ergonomics and Validation and the project teams
f. Continuous correlation between physical validation results and Virtual Validation results to ensure the continuous improvement of the tool
g. Expert use or management of Theia tool for light and reflection appraisals
h. Expert use or management of appropriate scanning technology to reverse engineer from ergonomic appraisals
i. Providing the focal point for all Virtual Reality initiatives within the company
j. Identifying appropriate digital tools for exploitation within the company and forwards planning technology roadmaps
k. Identifying new internal customers for wider exploitation of VR tools across the business
l. Liaising with academic institutions and software developers to develop new virtual tools and solutions to meet group requirements

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
- Appropriate experience working in the Automotive Industry or related industries.
- Proven expertise in technical/technology area.
- Strong influencing skills and communication, with a commitment to building positive relationships with other functions, and Group as an outward facing expert.
- Ability to share technical knowledge effectively with others, coach and guide as appropriate.
- Demonstrable experience of specific innovation/technology development.
- Good business awareness and ability to make and influence strategic decisions within business context.

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
- Expert knowledge of relevant technology area.
- A proven knowledge of relevant departmental /Company systems and technical workings.
- Understanding and application of all associated sign off legislative and environmental requirements.
- Demonstrable knowledge and application of Company problem solving tools and skills.

-Has demonstrable expertise and knowledge applicable to the technology area through qualifications (higher degree or equivalent) and/or experience.
- Proficiency in German language would be an advantage.
