The Company:
Our Client’s engineering division, has been a leader in the design of drilling facilities for offshore platforms worldwide for over 30 years. The company’s 700-strong workforce provides a range of engineering services from pre-project and Front End Engineering Design (FEED) through detail design, construction support, hook-up and commissioning.

The Role:
Main tasks of the position include:

Preparation and delivery of the annual Aberdeen engineering budget and business plan
Ensure the annual company Aberdeen business plan meets the company's strategic goals in the UKCS
Ensure the development and implementation of company policy, procedures and guidelines for the mitigation of all risks (e.g. Commercial, HSEQ, IT etc)
Ensure that all recruitment and competence is executed and demonstrated in accordance with company engineering procedures
Ensure that the Aberdeen office interfaces and operates with other company functions to the best advantage
Carry out regular client liaison and obtain performance feedback for completed works
Develop an appropriate Aberdeen engineering organisation structure in association with the relevant Functional Head of Departments and ensure personnel are fully informed of their individual responsibilities
Ensure engineering personnel are appropriately mentored, supervised and trained
Ensure implementation of company management control and project reporting systems
Ensure the development and implementation of company performance improvement process (including KPIs)
Ensure the implementation of company management system and processes
Interface with other parts of the organisation, to achieve best use of resources and written guidelines set by management
Manage subcontracts for supply of construction labour for Aberdeen office operations.

Primary areas of responsibility include:

Winning engineering and project work on the drilling facilities operated by the client in the UK and surrounding area.
Seek out, develop and profitably execute suitable process plant type project work for other UKCS based engineering and construction contractors and operators.
Technical, financial and HSEQ responsibility for all Aberdeen engineering and project activities.
Carry out, or provide support for offshore surveys and investigations.
Financial approval level per the current company Financial Approval Authority Matrix.
Full P&L responsibility for Brownfield projects, sales and contribution in the Aberdeen office.

Other responsibilities include:

Ensure the development and implementation of company worldwide policies, procedures and guidelines for the mitigation of all risks.
Familiarise themselves with the Group Safety Policy and take all reasonable care to ensure the health and safety of themselves and persons likely to be affected by their acts or omissions as required under the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974.
Ensure procedures and guidelines are implemented for the mitigation of all risks associated with Commercial, HS&E, IT etc.
Believe in and promote safety culture within project teams.
Ensure the local development and implementation of company management control and cost reporting system.
Responsible for the development, control, reporting and delivery of the Aberdeen budget.
Build relationships with existing and potential new clients and sub-contractors to support and develop business opportunities in and around the UKCS.
Ensure that the Aberdeen office interfaces and operates efficiently with orther branches of the company to best effect
Ensure the development of local management systems and processes while ensuring consistency with worldwide company processes.
Where required as Action Party, close out Actions in a timely manner.
Ensure that all personnel have undergone the training required for their grade.
Ensure that all personnel have sufficient information to carry out the task required.
Carry out competence assessments and appraisals in respect of department staff.
Ensure compliance to all relevant Group management systems and where applicable client procedures and statutory requirements.
Ensure compliance with all legislation and relevant industry design standards.
