The Company:
With interests in over 20 UK Continental Shelf (UKCS) fields, my Client has one of the most significant exploration and production businesses in the offshore waters of the UK.

The Role:
As a member of Europe E&P’s Capital Projects Group (CPG), the Engineering Manager will be required to manage all engineering activities across various projects within the Portfolio and where required provide subject matter leadership in their specialised discipline.

- The Engineering Manager is responsible and accountable for engineering and design deliverables for all Engineering works within Capital Projects Group.
- Responsible for identification and addressing gaps, against company Engineering standards and best Engineering Practices.
- Ensure the design is safe for the operability, reliability and effective for all systems.
- Responsible for the technical review of engineering deliverables produced by engineering contractors.
- Provide technical assistance during construction and commissioning phase, where required act as commissioning leads in own area of expertise.

Key Accountabilities

The Engineering Manager is accountable for the development and execution of various multi-discipline engineering scopes using appropriate resources. The Engineering Manager will support the CPG Project Managers in assuring that the projects meet company EMS (Engineering Management System) compliance.

- Accountable for Engineering Standards to ensure latest standards are applied throughout the design phase.
- Participate in the development of design concepts during the definition of new projects
- Establish a list of standards for use in the engineering activities based on the company standards. Where deviations are proposed, apply for formal dispensation to the relevant company Group Technical Authorities Participate in the management of Change process in terms of engineering reviews, changes and approvals
- Capture, share and where possible incorporate Lessons Learned into Engineering standards and guidelines
- Accountable for Engineering Resources
- Confirm that suitable Contractor resources are available to deliver quality engineering deliverables in accordance with the agreed schedules.
- Ensure relationship between accountable and responsible parties within the engineering team in terms of design approval, principle points of contact within Projects, the various contractors.
- Lead and co-ordinate all interfaces with internal & external key stakeholders – particularly Operations, Asset TA’s & GTA’s.
- Demonstrate visible commitment to excellent HSSE performance and participate in HAZIDs and HAZOP and other HSSE related reviews.
- Take part on the HSSE Audit, Incident Investigation in asset as required and always promote a safety culture within the Operations Engineering team to ensure that all safety issues are reviewed and acted upon.
- Ensure that the process safety in Design Standard is properly implemented and verified by 3rd Party external consultants in accordance with company Standards
- Ensure that all the project interfaces for all disciplines are identified and engineered, with particular emphasis to the connectivity with existing Brownfield services
- Ensure close-out of projects and completion of handover to Operations
- Provide technical assistance during construction and commissioning phase, where required act as commissioning leads in own area of expertise.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
The Engineering Manager will possess experience in the management of multi-discipline teams engaged in design scopes associated with upstream oil and gas developments, and be a subject matter expert within their specialised discipline.

Educated to first degree level in a relevant discipline; a chartered member of a relevant engineering institution.

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
Experience of coordinating engineering activities during the life cycle from concept development through to execution.
Knowledge of company or International standards, procedures and guidelines in the application of oil & gas industry.
Offshore oil/gas production and associated facilities in a client/operator environment.
Ability to interface across a wide range of disciplines including petroleum engineering, well engineering, operations, contracts/procurement, commercial and economics;
Quality control of contractor technical work, ensuring appropriate techniques and standards are applied and opportunities for technical and business improvement realised.
The ability to set the HSSE standards required and to lead by example to ensure that all aspects of the work are completed safely and in line with company’s HSSE expectations.
