The Company:
Is a leading Automotive manufacturer with a reputation for outstanding quality the world over. With demand increasing and an upturn in production, there is a need to bring further skills into the business to deliver on current and future projects.

The Role:

Provides technical leadership, in depth technical and process knowledge and guidance, to support, ensure and optimize processes, delivering on time and within budget.

Supports the development of greater Quality Management System effectiveness and efficiency within the functions, in line with the requirements of ISO/TS16949 and company policy.
• Has a direct working relationship with Process Owners in their functions


MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES (Maximum of 5 relating to products, services etc)
1. Accountable for deliverables to a specified timeframe, quality and cost.
a. Ability to demonstrate deliverables status at any time with Key Performance Indicators.
b. Manage workload on a daily basis and respond to both long term and short term task requests.
c. Responsbile for leading prompt concern resolution on existing processes, the coordination of resource, and ability to provide containment solutions when necesary.
d. Manage any outsourced work in the same technical area, including supplier management.
e. Manage budgetary requirements to meet KPI objectives.

2. Developing and maintaining specialist technical and business knowledge and capability, to ensure appropriate technical direction is provided.
a. Initiate and guide continous improvement projects to increase engineering’s efficiency and strategic projects to reach Engineering’s long term goals.
b. Ability to lead continous improvement and strategic projects
c. Provide guidance to continous improvement and strategic projects.
d. Provide input into strategic projects and engineering strategy.
e. Committed to own continuous professional development.

3. Accountable for developing and influencing the strategic technical direction within specialist area
a. Demonstrate a broad awareness of process and operational requirements within the area.
b. Responsible fo the delivery of attribute targets
c. Support and provide technical knowhow in relation to product planning.
d. Advise management of strategic opportunities in areas of technical expertise.
e. Develop and gain agreement for the strategic technical direction/Technical Roadmaps within specialist area.
f. Keep up to date with industry innovations and relevant Group technical roadmap deployment.

4. Maintain effective communication internally and within VW Group.
a. Responsibility to ensure factual and effective communication is provided at all levels, including within all cross-functional working teams.
b. Participation and effective representation of function/Company in appropriate technical meetings.
c. Responsible for the collation and presentation of relevant data inorder to consult and lead functional /cross-functional meetings.
d. Transparent issue escalation to senior management, accountable for identifying and escalating issues and risks to senior management
e. Develop relationships with counterparts in appropriate internal functions and VW organisations, and provide relevant guidance to suppliers.
f. Make recommendations and effective presentations to the business in area of techncial specialism, with the ability to explain and break down techncial detail/direction.
g. Co-ordination of TLD activities across Bentley.
5. Engineering Quality Lighthouse support

a. Support of management of the Business Management System locally (including Quality Management, with supporting knowledge of Environmental Management, Health & Safety and IT Security Management).
b. Consultant for best practice process management and process design.
c. Consultant for document control and record management principles in line with stated arrangements and our quality standard.
d. Coordination of the functional corrective action processes, for the elimination of problems and identified non-conformances. Instructor of functional Lighthouse Advisor in all QMS matters including self- audit.

(such as sales volumes, production volume, number of bought parts etc)

Focused deliverables supporting the functional goals can be agreed depending on technical area of responsibility and technology requirements at any point in the cycle plan.

Contributory responsibility for influencing tooling and unit cost per project due to technologies.


Appropriate experience working in the Automotive Industry or related industries.
Experience of process from launch to production.
Strong influencing skills and communication, with a commitment to building positive relationships with other functions, and Group as an outward facing expert.
Ability to share technical knowledge effectively with others, coach and guide as appropriate.
Demonstrable experience of process improvement activities within the specific technology.
Good business awareness and ability to make and influence strategic decisions within business context.
Understanding and ability to demonstrate behaviours in line with the Bentley People Framework.
Extensive experience of all operations within their function
Cross functional team working


Has demonstrable knowledge applicable to the technology areas in a relevant Engineering discipline.
The cycle plan and competitor products.
A proven knowledge of relevant departmental /Company systems and technical workings.
Understanding and application of all required sign off legislative and environmental requirements.
Demonstrable knowledge and application of Company problem solving tools and skills.
Proven Process Orientation
Knowledge of Quality Management Principles


Engineering degree or equivalent.

Preferably Chartered Engineer, or with a desire to achieve/currently working towards Chartered status.

Proficiency in German language would be an advantage.
