Position Description:
Saudi Aramco is seeking an Engineering Specialist in the area of Instrumentation and Control Systems with Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) emphasis including High Integrity Protection Systems, Well Head Safety Systems, and Emergency Shutdown Systems (ESD). The role will be working in the Process & Control Systems Department/Process Automation Systems Division. The Automation Systems Division offers engineering expertise in Custody Management, Process Instrumentation, High Integrity Protective Systems (HIPS), Plant Networks & Computing and Process Automation Systems. This position will be based in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia.

Duties & Responsibilities:
• Review and write corporate engineering procedures and material system specifications.
• Provide high level technical solutions to operations challenges and evaluate existing and new supplier’s their areas of expertise.
• Perform technical studies in substantive corporate technical issues and prepare and present reports to technical and management personnel.
• Serve as the corporate authority on new and emerging technologies in your area of expertise and will pioneer Saudi Aramco’s use of these technologies.
• Review mega-project design and proposals.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, Control Systems) or other related degree from an accredited university. A minimum of 10 years’ field experience in the oil and gas or petrochemical industry with an installed base of safety instrumented systems (HIPPS, HIPS, WHSD, SIS, SIF, ESD). This includes the selection and installation of field instrumentation, safety logic solvers, configuration, and safety critical cause and effect logic. Specific experience is required with Safety Instrumented System applications, Safety Integrity Level (SIL) assignment and the use of device failure certifications and failure rates when conducting Probability of Failure on Demand (PFD) calculations. Must be knowledgeable with national and international safety standards specifically the IEC, API and ISA. Knowledge of hydraulic wellhead control and shut down systems.

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
Experience with the design of valve testing methods and systems a plus. Must have excellent written and verbal English skills with experience in developing and presenting technical reports. Must be able to demonstrate a high level of computer literacy with advanced level of experience in the use of office and technical software. Experience with programmable and solid state safety logic solvers is a plus. A TUV “functional safety engineer certification” or Professional Engineer (P.E.)/Chartered Engineer (C.Eng.) license or registration would be desirable but is not essential.
