The Role:
The main responsibilities of the Engineering Technician:

Mining related activities:
• Gather and organize data related to mine production related information
• Build and manage mine production analysis tools to assist engineering and operations in production analysis.
• Perform basic mine analysis to understand variances in current production compared to historic and budget production trends.
• Track downtime and do basic analysis to highlight variances and major trends.
• Gather metrics and scorecard information for the group to measure progress against goals

Internal management reporting activities:
• responsibility for preparation /issue of daily/weekly reporting data analysis/modelling associated with Upgrader & Pipelines backup for attendance at some JV technical meetings (the coffee session support)
• co-ordination of data collation for the reserves process
• support the document control needs of the client

Project tracking related activities:
• Assesses preliminary cost estimates and AFE’s for major mine projects
• Track actual spend against budgetary and AFE values and analyze variances for improvement of future budgetary estimations.
• Build components of capital and expense forecasts for annual and periodic budget exercises.
• Track project execution progress against project schedules to highlight areas of concern and to look for improvements and areas of cost savings.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
The Engineering Technician should have 3 years experience in the mining sector preferred; oil and gas experience considered.

The Engineering Technician should have excellent skills in the use of Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Word. Working knowledge of Microsoft Project, SAP, Crystal Ball
