The Role:
The role plays a vital role within capital projects in helping to ensure environmental, social and broader sustainable development (SD) objectives are incorporated early in project development, and maintained through the project cycle to ensure related business risks are managed, positive and negative project impacts are assessed, mitigated and/or enhanced, and internal and external communication with a wide range of stakeholders is managed appropriately and successful.

Managing and approving environmental and social input to risk and hazard identification processes and workshops.
-Ensuring environment and Social Performance (SP) project deliverables are fully integrated with technical safety processes such that clients receive a seemless one point service for all their HSE and SD needs.
- Provision of advice to customers on incorporating SD principles and environmental protection and management into their business activities.
- In the context of project development providing authoratitive technical and regulatory advice on specific SD issues relating to environmental protection and social performance.
- Delivering business and project focused training programmes, facilitation of workshops and awareness programmes.
- Undertaking of peer and formal stage gate review of environment, SP and SD in capital projects on behalf of the business.
- Assessing, review and approving HSE and SP deliverables in line with the Technical Authority framework.

This role work on a range of projects simulanteously typically in the front end stage but also into execution w.r.t problem solving and supporting construction technical HSE issues, non-technical risk and social performance, stakeholder issues etc. The roles is characterised by their deep technical knowledge and leadership position with respect to the environment. The role is a subject matter expert role in Impact Assessment and Environment or Social Performance and will advise a number of major projects.

Will work on downstream and upstream projects. Will need to work seamlessly with NBD/business resource to ensure smooth delivery through the project cycle. The role can draw on team members support from the team in Kuala Lumpur and Bangalore. Travel is required in this job, for up to 30% of your time. The ability to manage this in terms of work-life balance is a pre-requisite for this function.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
- Minimum of 8 years Oil, Gas or Chemicals industry experience.
- A degree(s) or equivalent in any relevant and related environmental discipline.
- Thorough understanding of HSE&SP issues and concerns globally and how they relate to the oil & gas industry and to business and project development.
- Clear understanding and experience of international and national approaches in the application of environmental, social and related standards, guidelines and expectations defined by formal regulatory environments, international organizations such as UNEP, IFC, ILO, etc.
- At least 5 years experience applying Environment or Technical Safety/Health into capital project developments and/or in Operating Assets with a good HSE track record and with Issue and Stakeholder management.
- Proven experience in EIA process (following local standards and IFC’s standards), managing EIA contracts and field support in baseline studies
