The Company:
Our client a UK based refining and marketing company, have interests in a number of facilities in the United Kingdom, employing around 1000 people throughout the UK and over 33000 worldwide. They have had their presence on Teesside for over 30 years, processing and storing crude oil ready for shipment along with being an established supplier of bulk fuels, including LPG, to the commercial, aviation and marine industries.

The Role:
To ensure environmental requirements at Teesside Operations are effectively managed, providing environmental advice and guidance. Accountable for the timely delivery of accurate environmental data to various internal and external customers.

Responsibilities

• Maintains waste disposal register and prepares hazardous waste consignment notes
• Establish communications with internal/external bodies/agencies relevant to all areas in relation to the Environment.
• Promotes appropriate analytical methods, procedures and systems to control and monitor emissions – maintaining relevant records of emissions and waste.
• Informs and advises management on all aspects of environmental matters.
• Manages and audits waste disposal contractors.
• Manages relationship with EA PPC inspector.
• Encourage creativity, innovation and continuous improvement
• Leads EU ETS monitoring and reporting plan to ensure compliance.
• Responsible for compilation of annual EU ETS reports and registry.
• Lead compliance with IPPC permit conditions and improvement items.
• Compiles and delivers emission reports for the Environment Agency.
• Responsible for ensuring effective management of the ISO 14001 system and provide lead auditor role
• Prepares training packages and conducts training of section and site personnel in environmental awareness
• Addresses audit exceptions in a timely manner
• Implements, communicates and monitors implementation of rules, standards, procedures and working practices in relation to effective safety management
• Maintains awareness of legal/licence restrictions for emissions and waste disposal

• Legal right to live and work in the UK on a permanent basis without restrictions
• Degree in Science/Environment/Engineering
• Relevant experience in environmental compliance (air, waste, water)
• Basic knowledge of environmental legislation including IPPC/EU ETS/WEEE/Waste Directive
