The Role:
Purpose The Company Projects team is typically responsible for the engineering planning, design, construction and installation of new subsea and topsides facilities. The incumbent will be part of the Company Projects HSE Team. The main purpose of the position is to provide environmental support to opportunities and projects throughout all phases of the development process, known as the “Opportunity Realisation Process (ORP)”. ORP Phases: Identify and Assess; Select; Define; Execute; Operate; Abandon. The support will be to both UK and international projects.

The key challenges of the position are:

- Provide deep expertise and practical application to drive delivery of Environmental Management in line with the Global Environment Strategy in pursuit of the Goal Zero aspiration of no harm to the environment. The position is principally based in Aberdeen with occasional visits to other work locations for meetings with project teams and regulatory authorities.


- Provide Environmental support to engineering projects, including advice & input on permits/legal requirements, advice on options to improve performance beyond compliance and producing deliverables in line with Opportunity Realisation Process (ORP) requirements; • Assist with and lead preparation, review and approval of permits and consents, EIAs, ESs to Company and national/international standards, including regulatory communications;
- Undertaking discrete BAT studies to support design decisions and reduce Environmental risks to levels which are ALARP
- Drive compliance with the environmental components of the Company global HSSE&SP Control Framework Project Engineering (PE) function;
- Analyse performance (KPIs, incidents, audit outcomes) and benchmark performance with a view to identifying improvements in addressing E component of PE activities;
- Assist with the development, maintenance and implementation of the Environmental Management System (ISO14001), including interpretation of new legislation as required;
- Provide data and information for input to annual Business Plans, HSE Plans and management reviews;
- Plan, execute and deliver improvement plans;
- Participate in investigation and review of environmental incidents with the Project Engineering Function as required;
- Liaise closely with Asset Environmental Advisors and Asset Operational Personnel on 'E' related matters;
- Support/facilitate lateral learning and sharing of good practice on environmental matters with Project Engineering and within the wider Shell community as required;
- Assist Project Managers with the reporting, investigation and follow-up of non-conformances as required;
- Promote awareness of environmental management within Project Functions e.g. presentation, workshops, campaigns;
- Represent Shell in dealings with Regulators and Partners.
- Working with Discipline Engineers to ensure designs meet Shell and National/International legislative requirements
- Supporting Communications and Social Performance colleagues in Stakeholder relationship engagement to facilitate Non Technical Risk Management

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
- BSc or equivalent qualification in a relevant subject with significant experience in oil and gas or similar industry;
- An excellent working knowledge of offshore Environmental regulatory requirements and a reasonable understanding of onshore requirements;
- Experience managing environmental compliance and permitting, performing environmental impact assessments and working with environmental legislative frameworks. •
- Experience working with agencies, stakeholders and NGOs on environmental issues;
- Experience with the requirements of ISO14001 certification, identifying environmental aspects and controls and performing environmental audits;
- Valid Offshore Survival Training and MIST for UK Sector is an advantage.
