A global, diversified, upstream oil and gas company.

The Role:
Department Overview:
Act as environmental focal point for Wells Department with responsibility for identification and management of environmental risks and compliance, and continuous improvement. In addition, act as the Waste Management Subject Matter Expert for all UKCS operations. Travel offshore will be required.

HSE Expectations:
•Provide proactive and visible HS&E leadership
•Demonstrate commitment to safety and environmental protection through language, behaviour and actions

Key Deliverables:
•Maintain and continually Improve HSE/OI Systems to Support Business Delivery
•Active ownership and continuous improvement of environmental content within HSE/OI Management System
•Engagement with Wells department operations to establish management strategies for environmental issues
•Development of environment targets for Wells department operations
•Roll out new/updated procedures at sites and integrate into site systems

Operational Support:
•Assure operational risk management and compliance with the law and company procedures
•Be a visible and active member of the Wells team through meeting participation and relationship building
•Provide advice and support to Wells through responsiveness or intervention
•Fulfil role as Environment Contact on the Emergency Response Team
•Support incident investigations
•Support delivery of the Annual Environmental Improvement Plan
•Support Projects and Wells in delivery of site related projects

Environmental Planning and Regulatory Compliance:
•Maintain Well’s Environmental Aspects Registries
•Maintain awareness of existing and developing environmental legislation and company standards
•Complete Environmental planning for all Wells department projects
•Coordinate regulatory applications through to approval
•Monitor site permit compliance and coordinate permit update/renewal
•Monitor/audit operational performance in relation to Environmental Management Plans, targets, regulatory limits, and communicate risks or issues
•Act as focal point for regulatory inspections and track all resultant actions to closure
•Deliver the annual audit program

Fulfil Waste Management Subject Matter Expert Role:
•Own the waste management procedures and continually improve them maintain awareness of existing and proposed regulations, and best practices
•Maintain a sustainable performance analysis (e.g., trends, benchmarks)

Competence Requirements:
•Survey, drilling and well intervention operations
•Oil and gas production operations
•Current and developing environmental legislative and regulatory requirements and their application to the oil and gas sector
•Environmental management systems, in particular ISO 14001
•Company environmental standards, procedures and guidelines
•Environmental risks and associated controls
•Auditing and compliance monitoring
•Company emergency response organisation
•Oil spill response

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Relevant degree or post graduate diploma in an environmental discipline or a core science
Previous experience as an Environmental Advisor for an offshore operator, preferably within a Wells Department
