The Company:
Our client, a diverse Canadian Energy Company, plans new developments estimated at $12+ Billion over the next 5 years.

This position is open to Canadian Citizens and Permanent Residents only. Residents of Newfoundland & Labrador will be given first consideration for this position.

The Role:
Currently looking for a Lead Environmental Engineer who will report directly to the Environment and Regulatory Compliance Manager. As Lead Environmental Engineer you will over see, site environmental monitors and administrative staff required for the execution of the duties. Also Engineering Co-op Students.

As a Lead Environmental Engineer your main duties will involve:
• All environmental, engineering and related technical activities required in support of the construction of the following project components: Muskrat Falls Hydro Generating Facility, North Spur Stabilization Program, Converter and Electrical Substations, Strait of Belle Island Cable Installation, Electrode Sites
• As Environmental Engineer you will provide environmental engineering expertise in support of project design components, specification preparation, and technical evaluation
• Providing environmental engineering expertise in the areas of site grading and development, erosion and sedimentation controls, site stabilization and rehabilitation.
• Fuel storage and pollution prevention measures.
• Developing, updating and implementing plans for the Hydro Generating Facility components.
• Providing assistance to project management, construction contractors and environmental coordinators, in the implementation of the Project Environment Management Program for construction of the Hydro Generating Facility components.
• Planning, implementing and coordinating the Project Environmental Program to reduce and eliminate incidents that may result in the environmental damage and resultant financial loss.
• Conducting regular audits of the regulatory and environmental management plans (policies, standards, work practices and procedures) and issuing audit reports. This includes monitoring, close-out report
• Recommendations and informing the Environment and Regulatory Compliance Manager and Environmental Coordinators whenever revisions to the project environmental plans are required.
• Maintaining a good working knowledge of current regulations, codes, and industry best practices, and acting as a resource to project through the Environment and Regulatory Compliance Manager.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
As a Lead Environmental Engineer you will have experience:
• 10 years of related experience.
• Knowledge of Newfoundland Environment Codes of Practice, Laws and Regulations.
• Experience on Construction projects.
• Bachelor of Engineering, or Master of Applied Science in Engineering.
