The Company:
Our client, a diverse Canadian Energy Company, plans new developments estimated at $12+ Billion over the next 5 years.

This position is open to Canadian Citizens and Permanent Residents only. Residents of Newfoundland & Labrador will be given first consideration for this position.

The Role:
The ideal candidate will be responsible for all environmental activities required for the Transmission Line and DC specialities including, but not limited to, those involving Consultant, Subcontractors, Company and other consultants, contractors and suppliers including the implementation of the Transmission Line and DC specialities - specific Environmental Management Programs as well as the incorporation of Company’s environmental commitments and requirements into the programs.


PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Developing, Updating and Implementing Environmental Plans for the Transmission Line and DC specialities components.
• Providing assistance to project management and construction contractors, through the Environmental Manager and environmental coordinators, in the implementation of the Project Environmental Management Program for construction of the Transmission Line and DC Specialties components.
• Planning, implementing and coordinating the Project Environmental Program to reduce and eliminate incidents that may result in the environmental damage and resultant financial losses.
• Conducting regular audits of the regulatory compliance and environmental management plans (policies, standards, work practices and procedures) and issuing audit reports. This includes monitoring, close-out report recommendations, and informing the Environmental Manager and Environmental Coordinators whenever revisions to the project environmental plans are required.
• Maintaining a good working knowledge of current regulations, codes and industry best practices, and acting as a resource to project through the Environmental Manager.
• Liaising with the On-Site Environmental Coordinator with respect to monitoring the project site, undertaking environmental inspection and reporting and following up as needed. All environmental incidents are to be reported, assessed and communicated to all parties involved.
• Updating the non-conformance register with non-conformances and spills occurring under the Transmission Line and DC Specialties contracts.
• Implementation of each contractor's work procedures and ensuring that those procedures are in line with site specific environmental protection plans.
• Reviewing project schedule to ensure all permits are obtained by the date required.
• Providing technical assistance during contractor environmental review meetings, when appropriate, and maintaining records of those meetings.
• Providing guidance to the Environmental Manager, through interpretation of Environmental Management Plan Practices and Procedures and applicable regulations and standards as requested.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• P.Eng or Master of Applied Science
• 5 years of related experience
• Knowledge of Newfoundland Environment Codes of Practice, laws and Regulations
• Experience on construction projects an asset
