The Company:
Our client, a major owner/operating company, requires expertise for their ongoing oil sands mega-projects in Alberta.

The Role:
Responsibilities for this role include:

• Provide environmental regulatory support to the Onshore Oil & Gas business unit.
• Assist in scouting new locations, right of ways, provide input from an environmental perspective.
• Determining environmental regulatory requirements and ensure systems are in place to ensure compliance with federal, provincial, and local environmental regulations.
• Working with project teams to minimize environmental impact and ensure compliance with the Control Framework Environmental Manuals.
• Provide input/data to aid in preparation and management of environmental budgets.
• Develop and manage environmental consultants for project work (including contractor deliverables, competencies, safety management, and exerts cost control).
• Engage regulators as necessary.
• Manage environmental commitments made to regulators and stakeholders.
• Coordination of environmental monitors/inspectors required during construction activities.
• Participate and support external stakeholder consultation initiatives as needed (e.g., First Nations consultation support, ENGOs, local stakeholders, open houses ).
• Provide compliance support to operations as needed.
• Provide support to Senior Environmental Planner as necessary (eg Impact Assessment work).

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Qualifications required:

• Bachelors of Environmental Science or Bachelors of Environmental Engineering, and a minimum of 2 years experience in environmental and/or regulatory fields OR relevant 5+ years field environmental experience in Alberta or British Columbia.
• Familiarity with Canadian Federal, and Provincial environmental regulatory legislation.
• Solid working knowledge of a wide range of environmental management issues associated with permitting, approvals, and reporting during the design and implementation of appraisal, seismic and field test programs.
• Background in scientific discipline areas such as Aquatics, Terrestrial, Reclamation and Wildlife.
• Ability to work with multidisciplinary teams.
• Demonstrated contractor management skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills are a necessity.
• Good interpersonal skills and time management skills are a necessary asset.
• Computer literacy with PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Arc GIS.
