The Company:
A leading Australian coal seam gas explorer and producer focused on developing its world-class reserves for domestic and international supply.

The Role:
The purpose of this role is to provide assistance to the Environment Development / New Business Team under the Manager Strategic Environment in scoping and overseeing ESIA activities and other approvals for new areas of the Company activity, including preparing key documentation associated with preparation of ESIAs and addressing the Company / Group internal review requirements.

• Provide advice and assistance to the Environment Coordinator New Business and the Manager Strategic Environment in preparing and undertaking ESIA and other permitting / approval activities for new areas of the Company activity, including:
o Planning and scheduling ESIA studies and other permit / approval requirements;
o Scoping and project managing (including ensuring appropriate HSSE oversight) ESIA studies including specific technical studies;
o Review of technical documents and contribute to preparation of ESIA chapters;
o Undertake integration between engineering teams and environmental teams;
o Contribute to preparation of ESIA and other permitting / approval documents for submission to regulators, including EPBC Referrals, EP Act applications, and others as directed;
• Prepare documentation for, and participate in, internal Company/Group reviews
• Assist in integration with the Social team, including stakeholder engagement;
• Prepare applications for applicable environmental permits, and assist as directed in consultation with regulators on permit condition
• Undertake other activities related to environmental assessment and permitting under the direction of the Manager Strategic Environment and General Manager Environment

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• Tertiary qualified in an environmental related subject
• Professional experience in environmental impact assessment for large scale industrial, mining or oil and gas projects, preferably in Queensland
• Experience in preparation of technical documentation related to ESIA and/or environmental management plans or permit applications.
• Demonstrated experience in setting schedules and managing delivery of technical studies within set time and budget

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
• Skills in MS Office applications including Word, Excel and Powerpoint
• Ability to write and review environmental technical reports
• High level of understanding of the regulatory framework applicable to environmental impact assessment in Australia and Queensland
• Able to demonstrate proven or potential capabilities in working with and influencing internal and external stakeholders
• A track record of adding real value to the decision-making processes in a business with an ability to put his or her point of view thoughtfully and persuasively
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
