The Company:
Operator with nearly 12.000 employees worldwide. Among others, it is engaged in petroleum and natural gas exploration and production activities, with several blocks in five countries at the moment: Spain, Algeria, Colombia, Egypt and Peru. Headquartered in Madrid, the E+P department employ today around 650 people worldwide and their aim is to double these numbers in the near future. The company is now consistently broadening its international presence and investing in E&P activities.

The Role:
• Implement successfully a chemical EOR pilot (polymer & surfactant) in Caracara Sur, a field in the Los Llanos basin in Colombia.

• Lead the EOR team to achieve optimum data acquisition pre- and post-drilling the pilot injector (Aug/September 2013).

• Provide a detailed reservoir simulation of the pilot, required to select optimum polymer concentrations, slug size, breakthrough predictions, etc.

• Work out a detailed surveillance program

• Promote a close cooperation with Colombia operational staff to ensure adequate water quality, chemical mixing, injectivity etc.

• Schedule further reservoir simulation on a sector scale of the field to assess future EOR viability for Caracara Sur and/or other fields in the Caracara concession.

• In case of a successful pilot phase, undertake larger scale EOR developments in Caracara Sur (i.e. work up an EOR development plan).

• Additional future EOR projects may enter the field implementation stage.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• Bsc in Chemistry, Petroleum Engineering or Physics, preferably MSc or higher
• More than 10 years’ experience in Reservoir Engineering, both in simulation as in well monitoring. Earlier experience in EOR projects is a bonus.
• Team leader experience with strong project management skills
• Working knowledge in English is essential; working knowledge of Spanish will be well regarded.
• Availability to relatively frequent travel to Colombia, when required.
