The Role:
A proactive organised and effective communicator is required for a central role with the whole vehicle physics department.

Bentley’s Whole Vehicle Physics (EGP) department supports the design, development and launch of all car lines from concept through to launch and infield support. Whole Vehicle physics which includes noise and vibration, design analysis & Aerodynamics is a key part of this product development process and sits within the Whole Vehicle Engineering department.

This role will be responsible for managing the test & measurement equipment and facilities within the function, including
• SQ suite
• Full vehicle Simulator,
• Modal cell,
• Aerodynamics modelling cell,
• Noise test facility,
• Analysis/equipment stores

The role will require planning, managing, maintenance, upgrade and new investment for all equipment and test facilities in order to support all technical development teams within EGP for managing the usage of equipment and facilities.

This position reports to the Functional Manager – Whole Vehicle Physics EGP4 – Whole Vehicle Engineering.


RESPONSIBILITY/TASKS AND CUSTOMERS

Responsible for effective and efficient management of whole vehicle physics equipment and test facilities. Motivating and guiding members of the team in order to ensure equipment and facilities are fit for purpose and safe to be used.

- Defining and planning own work and regularly reporting the status and progress of above to the Functional Manager.
- Accountable for planning and monitoring equipment and facilities to meet cost, timing, health & safety Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
- Responsible for the support and guidance to engineers for new techniques and technology.
- Key facilitator for managing processes within the function in order to comply with the ISO/TS audits.
- Microphone and accelerometer in house and external calibration
- Preparation and calibration of signal chain for testing
- Arrangement of external Head and LMS equipment calibration
- Equipment cleanliness and fit for purpose checks
- Consumables upkeep and tracking
- Broken equipment log and replenishment
- Test track support and driving of Bentley products
- Logistic support and secure equipment shipping
- Preparation of capital budget and expenditure (Capex) and Revenue budget for yearly planning rounds
- Purchase order tracking for blanket orders
- Health and safety processes for EGP facilities and other risk assessments within the department.

Facility responsibilities

- Facility preparation and coordination
- 6S audit of facilities
- Maintain booking log for the facilities
- Outsourcing of overcapacity testing with the outsourcing team
- Ensuring all H&S aspects including the relevant risk assessment is in place prior to the test being started
