The Company:
Our client is a leading engineering contractor and project integrator for the nuclear industry. They have been at the heart of the UK nuclear industry for more than 50 years. During that time they have designed, manufactured, installed and commissioned a wide range of nuclear equipment and plant for both the power generation and defence markets.

The Role:
Our client requires an experienced Engineer with knowledge of industry codes and practices, such as PED, PSSR, CDM, etc to support an important Project on Sellafield site. In depth knowledge is required in a number of engineering disciplines including a working knowledge of major power plant projects for nuclear licensed sites and applications.

The role is based near Whitehaven, Cumbria.

Job Role - key duties;

Reporting to section manager, including weekly project progress / status report.
Production of functional and technical enquiry specifications for equipment.
Review of supplier bid documentation and comparison to DPS specifications.
Preparation of technical bid reviews for equipment.
Liaison with other engineering sections to ensure the complete engineering packages is achieved.
Liaising and corresponding with suppliers.
Provision of technical support to other sections and departments.
Provide support to site construction and commissioning team.
Address technical queries received during installation and commissioning.
Evaluating and recording of risks
Carry out designers risk assessment on systems that have undergone changes.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Chartered Engineer / Experience commensurate with CEng - working towards C-Eng
Knowledge and competency in the use and application of all relevant European and International codes, design codes and standards and to provide safe compliant component design
Experience of boiler / power plant BOP, ie. fans, dampers etc.
Demonstrable understanding of equipment requirements eg. Technical Specifications structures and use of client specification DPS / supplier DOR definition, supplier set up and management.
The candidate should be able to demonstrate experience of working with clients to ensure delivery and installation of projects on site.
Demonstrable understanding of CDM, PED, Design safety, applicable BS/EN/ASME standards.

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
Previously worked at Sellafield site beneficial.
