The Company:
Our client is a leader within the Automation and Control Systems field with operations in 100 countries worldwide. They specialise in providing integrated solutions the transmission and distribution industry

The Role:
As a member of the Tendering Department you will report directly to the Tendering Manager. The role will focus on the hands on production and submission of internally approved Civils Works tenders in line with identified customer requirements and the relevant technical and commercial specifications.

Key duties and responsibilities will include:

• Coordinating with the Civil Construction Manager, Commercial and Financial disciplines for the preparation and completion of Fixed Price Civil works packages.
• Supporting the Tendering Engineer/s and Senior Tendering Engineer/s on identified opportunities.
• Act a key member of Internal Capture Team
• Review all enquiry documentation and assist with the formulation of order winning Civil strategies.
• Preparing and presenting all Civil tender documentation including cost summary sheets, risk assessments and approval documentation.
• Provide indicative pricing support for business development.
• Build and maintain pricing / estimating databases and ensure outturn costs are captured and fed back through the system.
• Take responsibility for the Internal Risk Review Process associated with all Civil works.
• Submit all completed tender proposals to meet customer deadlines.
• Assist with Tender follow up and negotiations.
• Work closely with supply chain for pricing purposes.
• Develop and give advice on procurement models / options relating to civil engineering.
• Provide advise on programme allowances applicable to civil engineering activities.
• Maintain knowledge of site based costs, process and construction methods.
• Identify opportunities and risks during the tender process.
• Maintain a register of key assumptions within estimates and pricing.
• Ensure adherence to the relevant codes of practice for UK civil works and buildings.
• Interface with the client and all disciplines whether internal or external companies, suppliers, designers and unitary bodies.
• Focus on value engineering, ensuring full consultation with all interested parties.
• Follow all designated work flow procedures and add value by introducing new consulted procedures.
• Be flexible in your approach to work tasks and in accordance with strict tender timescales.
• Act as the Single point of Civil contact with the client on certain projects.
• Attend site visits throughout the UK, as required.
• Provide ongoing support to the customer by holding tender follow-up meetings including addressing TQ's, preparing presentations and carrying out contract negotiations.
• Identify client requirements and look to implement solid business solutions.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• Sound UK Civil Construction Industry Experience
• Detailed knowledge and experience in estimating standards (e.g. SMM7)
• Understanding of reinforced concrete structures, roadworks, drainage, erection of steel framed clad buildings
• Commercial Acumen
• Self motivation and total commitment to deadlines
• HNC/D in Civil Engineering or equivalent
• MS Office skills including Word, Excel and Powerpoint
• Full and Valid Driving License

• Degree in Civil Engineering
• High Voltage Substation Experience
• Power Cables Installation Experience
• Association to Professional body
• Power Industry Experience
