The Company:
Our Client, a major international owner/operating company, seeks expertise for their Oil Sands mega-projects in Alberta.

This opportunity is open to Canadian Citizens and Permanent Residents only.

The Role:
The key area of responsibility is to support ongoing Oil Sands projects in Canada in terms of Estimation & Quantity surveying.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Ensure that corporate requirements and best practice concerning estimating are implemented in investment projects. The candidate must also be familiar with, and able to fulfil the requirements related to the various detailing levels (Estimates Class B-D)
• Take an active role in project teams, ensuring a good balance between technical solutions, project execution strategies, project schedule and cost estimate
• Based on technical documentation, establish cost estimates for capital and operational investment projects
• Assist in establishing overall project benchmarks and target cost
• Assist in arranging benchmarking sessions for Cost at Decision Gate’s as per Client’s requirements.
• Identify associated risk and opportunities and perform cost risk analysis of the estimate
• Participate in the development of estimating models, tools and best practices.
• Constructive dialogue with home organization to ensure experience transfer
• Forecasting and analysis.
• Contribute with input to the Project Execution & Overall Procurement Strategy and individual contract strategies.
• Participate in Contract Evaluation and responsible for preparation of relevant Contract documents.
• Secure estimating of projects in corporation with in house estimating group and contractors.
• Ensure contractors are in compliance with Client's Estimation requirements with smooth flow of reporting from contractors to Client's Management systems.
• Establish support documentation for Decision Gates process related to Estimation.
• Establish the quantities into Contracts issued to tenderers. Develops Quantity measurement forecast on a monthly basis.
• Quantity surveying and verification of quantities developed/ invoiced by the contractors.
• Position will require short/ long term assignment on Project sites in Alberta based on the project needs.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• Bachelor or University degree
• Minimum 5 and maximum 10 years of relevant experience within oil and gas industry in Estimation.
• Experience working with Owners and EPC contractors would be an asset.
