The Company:
Our client a UK based refining and marketing company, have interests in a number of facilities in the United Kingdom, employing around 1000 people throughout the UK and over 33000 worldwide. They have had their presence on Teesside for over 30 years, processing and storing crude oil ready for shipment along with being an established supplier of bulk fuels, including LPG, to the commercial, aviation and marine industries.

The Role:
Purpose: Responsible for the development of the Defect Elimination efforts and on going improvement of programmes.
Primary Function:

Key Safety
• Actively supports the PSI initiative.
• Comply with the site responsibility for legislative and operational regulatory compliance and ensuring that the requirements of the COMAH are implemented at the Teesside Operations site
• Adhere to Upstream HSE Excellence Process Safety roles and responsibilities

Core Responsibility

• Assist in building the Process Failure Analysis system on site to leave a legacy of effective processes that will be run by others at the end of the term.
• Adherence to the BU specific processes and procedures with relevant parts of the organisation, including
• Defect criteria (threshold for failure)
• Data capture and defect register (ZL Process)
• Route Cause Analysis process
• Performance indicators (including estimation of savings / reduced rework)
• Communication and training of above processes to appropriate persons
• Review of asset performance data that includes:
• Lost production opportunities data
• Environmental issues
• Safety Issues
• Process and procedure failures
• Identification of chronic and sporadic issues that exceed the minimum threshold set by the BU’s as per the Route Cause Analysis (RCA) Recommended Practice
• Tracking closure of the RCA recommendations
• Extending Failure Analysis programme to all areas of the business
• BU-wide periodic review of the number and type of RCA’s being conducted, including a summary of latent causes.
• Periodic assessment of the overall effectiveness of the RA program.
• Interface with all levels of the organisation to drive out defects resulting in improved reliability / asset performance
• Responsible for the development and maintenance of the asset defect elimination register
• Update NoE RCA activity tracking register as required
• Contribute to annual Operations Excellence Self Assessments
• Knowledge sharing among FA coordinator community
• Prepares monthly and yearly report and summary
• To oversee the application of the equipment shutdown and commissioning process to control the transition of equipment from operating status to offline and back to operating status. To facilitate the rewriting of procedures or the introduction of temporary instructions to complete actions identified from RCAs.
• Direct report through existing Operations Excellence structure.

Additional Job Capabilities:
• Work on Plant in restricted areas when required
• Hold a Full UK driving licence and to drive company vehicles where appropriate

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• Engineering Degree
• Demonstrable experience with regard to change management processes
• Auditor experience
• Knowledge of Microsoft packages, including Word, Excel, etc
• Competent in the use of the SAP programme.
• Proven competence in literacy / numeracy skills
• Experience in the management of data
• Interpersonal and Multitasking skills
