The Company:
Our Client is an International Company involved in the supply of Energy globally. Their Operations cover Exploration, Production and Downstream and at present they have projects in over 25 Countries worldwide.
In Australia they are involved in one of the largest LNG Projects, including both Gas and Condensate which is currently in FEED (Front End Engineering Design) Stage.

The Role:
The Freight Forwarding and Customs Manager will be responsible for the provision of expertise relating to Freight Forwarding, International/Domestic Transportation, Customs and Quarantine requirements ensuring a strong safety focus and high level of customer satisfaction for this Multi-Billion $ LNG Project.

Key Responsibilities include:
Promote improvement initiatives with regards to the safety of goods and materials transportation and operations within the parameters of the Company H.S.E. policy.
Conduct all activities in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with the Company's policies and procedures. Ensuring the welfare of personnel and the protection of assets and the environment at all times.
Maintain awareness of and ensure conformity with all relevant statutory and Company directives and rules
Ensure conformity with the applicable local regulations, laws and guidelines
Analysis of safety results & incidents reports
Attend SQM sessions with Contractors as an adviser on technical & safety issues
Issue safety alert bulletins regarding major issues relating to Freight Forwarding, Customs and Quarantine non-compliance and incidents
Actively participate in HSE meetings and HAZID's to ensure workable and appropriate solutions are implemented
Possesses a strong understanding of Company management systems so as to establish procedures and work instructions when and as required.
Deliver technical and operational support to the Project with regards to freight forwarding, customs and quarantine activities
Participate in strategy development related to overall transportation related operations
Support transportation / customs planning activities in consultation with the Offshore/Onshore/Operations teams
Coordinates transportation activities with procurement stakeholders by informing the cost and delivery time involving different transportation methods and regarding general shipping requirements, together with monitoring and expediting urgent and critical consignments
Liaises and interfacing with internal departmental users, in relation to export of items for analysis, inspection, and repair.
Coordinates activities with external transport agents and Contractors involving the movement of Company materials and goods
Ensures that compliance with Customs regulations and procedure is adhered to at all times
Establishes appropriate procedures to manage the handling and transportation of dangerous goods and to ensure that the appropriate licences, permits and documentation is obtained as required
Liaise with Contractor, to ensure that the Contractor freight transportation activities, freight forwarding, customs and quarantine operations conform to the project directives especially in terms of safety, environment, schedule, cost and quality.
Arranges and monitors the transportation of goods and materials by air, sea, road and rail at all phases of consignment journey in the most economic and expeditious means available to meet the requirements of the Operations/Projects schedules.
Ensures that all formalities for both import and export of goods and material comply with the appropriate regulations and laws of the Australian authorities. Note that these formalities are applicable to all goods and material and can involve Customs authorities and ports and airport authorities.
Ensures that Customs clearance requests are issued for all material movements and follow up the approval from the proper authorities.
Controls and coordinates the expediting, freight forwarding and customs clearance of the local and international purchase and/or service orders.
Maintains the continuous flow of goods and equipment to their appropriate destinations ensuring that delays in-transit are reduced or removed completely.
Ensures that formalities for both the import and export of goods and materials are observed and complied with according to the various international laws and regulations.
Guarantees compliance with Company safety regulations and ensures that the regulations are implemented by the various Contractors and employees involved
Ensures an adequate feedback of information is supplied to the user departments
Provides knowledge and information relating to Australian transportation, customs and quarantine matters and appropriate standards and best practice
Issues the Shipping Order form / Customs Order and files them.
Follows up and controls invoices of Customs / Transport contracts.
Maintains logical filing systems for retention of all customs declarations, shipping orders, customs orders, DAN, invoices, etc...so as to ensure conformity and transparency
Maintains a register for all movements of goods and materials.
Creates and keeps up to date a complete database showing cost breakdowns on all movements of goods and materials
Controls and manages the cost of shipping, airfreight, and land transportation.
Summarizes the costs of transportation and prepares periodic reporting
To guarantee the current and relevant update of information to air/sea/land freight logbooks
To ensure that the transportation is done in compliance with Company standard.
To ensure compliance with Company policy, procedure and safety rules.
To guarantee conformity with delivery schedules and to maintain the serviceable condition of material delivered

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Bachelor Degree in Business / Logistics or related discipline
Minimum of 10 years experience relating to actual freight forwarding activities
Previously engaged as a Freight / Transport Manager for large scale oil and gas projects
Experienced with Australian transportation, customs, quarantine, project and operations activities
Experience or knowledge of AQIS
Experience or knowledge of EPBS
