The Role:
PURPOSE:
The purpose of the Asset Accountant role is to support and maintain a fit-for-purpose accounting, control and governance framework for in-country Operations activities, including production operations, maintenance, logistics & support departments with general guidance from the Senior Production Accountant.

The Asset Accountant will work closely with the Senior Production Accountant and the Field Accountants on site to ensure seamless finance support for the business.

The Asset Accountant is co-located with the Asset team on site and has a solid reporting line to the Senior Production Accountant.

ACCOUNTABILITIES ASSET ACCOUNTANT:
•The Asset Accountant will be accountable to implement the Financial Controls around Inventory Management, Movable Assets and Fixed Assets as set out in the Financials Control Framework.
•The incumbent will implement and periodically test the Financial Controls and governance framework for Inventory Management, Financial Controls around Inventory, Movable Assets and Fixed Assets;
•The Asset Accountant will be leading the Asset Verification process and will work closely together with the Controllers Team (Dubai) and the Fixed Asset Accountants team (SBSC) who keep the Fixed Asset Register
•Accountable to maintain fit for purpose financial controls and accounting processes, including monthly VOWD (Value of Work Done) accruals and Latest Estimate updates.
•Provide , timely, accurate and transparent Management and Financial Information, including variance analysis.
•Ensure adequate back-up documentation is in place for VOWD, commitments are accurately reported and proper records are maintained.
•Provide support to the requisition-to-pay process when required.
•Assist Senior Production Accountant on ad-hoc basis in the Well to Invoice process.

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS/KEY CHALLENGES:
•Find the optimum between supporting the business and challenging the business when required (e.g. month-end accruals).
•Build robust relationships with the Asset Teams, support teams (Contracting & Procurement and Controllers) to establish a collaborative working environment.
•Ability to work independently on various tasks within an agreed timeframe.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
EXPERIENCE and QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
•Finance professional with accounting or business qualification
•Degree in Business Administration & Economics or
•Degree in Management Accounting
•Diverse Finance experience in different roles
•Knowledge and understanding of Financial controls

KEY COMPETENCES REQUIRED:
• Good English and Arabic speaking and writing
• Capabilities to work virtual is a must
• Good IT skills, incl. MS Office
• Previous experience with different type of Accounting and Reporting systems
• Experience with SAP and Business Warehouse is a plus and definitively preferred
• Focused on delivery, meeting tight deadlines
• Can-do mentality and team player
• Good influencing and communication skills
• Strong analytical skills, with eagle eyes for details
• Flexible and keen to pick-up and learn new things and able to develop own view
