Our client is a leading global oil and gas operating company.

The Role:
SCOPE:
Provide environmental support to Capital Projects Organization and Drilling and Wells.
As a member of the HSE staff the Environmental Coordinator will:
•Lead by example and give full support to the HSE policy, goals, efforts and programs of the CompanyI Health, Safety and Environmental Management System.
•Provide effective Environmental leadership and support to Capital Projects and Drilling & Wells, and help maintain excellent environmental stewardship. Develop environmental programs in accordance with Corporate, Company and statutory requirements.
•Contribute to the development of an excellent HSE department by communicating environmental policies and standards to staff; implementing initiatives to improve environmental practice and awareness; and recommending effective environmental management programs.
•Actively participate in the implementation process of the HSE MS and help ensure that HSE issues are given primary consideration in all job activities and tasks undertaken within the area of responsibility.

Unsafe acts and/or conditions, no matter in what area of responsibility, are to be reported so that corrective actions can be taken.

The Environmental Coordinator is based in a field location and is responsible for:
•Strong Safety Leadership and a commitment to developing an incident free culture with Kuparuk Operations.
•Serving as a technical resource by providing guidance and assistance to the field to ensure compliance with waste disposal and material reuse requirements; environmental regulations; wildlife, water quality, storm water, spill prevention, waste minimization and other related field environmental issues.
•Identifying environmental risks, issues, and mitigation strategies, and communicating with Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) and other internal business partners.
•Assessing field activities by conducting onsite audits and site visits to ensure environmental compliance.
•Providing written compliance reports to agencies; representing Company during agency inspections; and maintaining contacts and working relationships with local, state, and federal agency personnel.
•Designing and conducting environmental training programs.
•Maintaining environmental manuals and key databases.
•Participating in the Incident Management Team as the Environmental Unit Leader.
•Monitoring environmental issues and advising field personnel on environmental obligations.
•Covering for Alpine Environmental Coordinators and Kuparuk Environmental Coordinators as needed.
•Coordinating facility tours and/or classes for external agency stakeholders.
•Assisting with regulatory advocacy efforts focused on permitting-related local, state or federal regulatory initiatives.
•Perform other work-related duties as assigned.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
•Bachelors Degree or higher in engineering, safety, industrial hygiene or natural sciences.
•Three or more years environmental permitting and compliance experience with emphasis on upstream exploration, seismic, development, production or abandonment operations.
•Legally authorized to work in the United States on a regular full-time basis without restrictions

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
•Masters Degree in environmental engineering or science, biology, geology, or related sciences.
•Experience in Alaska environmental compliance (waste, water, land issues, field monitoring/study design.)
•Working knowledge of Alaska local, state and federal environmental and land use regulations (North Slope Borough, AK Dept. of Environmental Conservation, AK Dept. of Natural Resources, Alaska Coastal Management Program, and Minerals Management Service) including the National Environmental Policy Act and its application to oil and gas projects
•Alaska North Slope experience
•Exceptional leadership, organizational and problem solving skills.
•Professional working experience in and understanding of multimedia environmental regulations and their applicability to upstream oil and gas operations.
•Experience working with external communities and stakeholders.
