The Company:
Our client, a major oil and gas company, seeks a Field Project Services Consultant to join their team here in Texas!

The Role:
Responsible for supporting a field project team in the execution of on-site project control processes and systems on small or medium size projects.

Under the supervision of the Construction Superintendent, the Field Project Services contractor will perform routine project control activities to ensure that all field project control activities such as subcontract administration, change management, quantity tracking, weekly progress reporting, field purchase order support and administration of Client's “field cost and schedule management control systems” are in accordance with company standards and contractual requirements.

KEY DUTIES:
(1) Responsible for the development of scope, schedule, budget and estimate to complete data for assigned tasks under the direction of the Construction Superintendent.
(2) Perform in a lead role in the creation of Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) and development of schedules and budget data (including resource loading) for those WBS elements.
(3) Analyze unit rates to the extent that the estimate to compete unit rate is well understood.
(4) Assemble and compile schedule and cost data inputs into the project control database and provide output to the project team.
(5) Assist in preparing status reports and other related project planning and control documentation.
(6) Perform contract administration duties with emphasis on change management and project controls implementation by contractors. Issuing Field Purchase Orders with the directive from Construction Superintendent in support of Client Supply Chain.
(7) Assist with the mitigation of project risks and implementation of corrective actions.
(8) Support the Project Management team in maintaining timely and effective change management processes, procedures and systems.
(9) Assist in the development and maintenance of periodic (daily, weekly, monthly) status reports to keep management informed on the project progress. These reports may include labor productivity, quantity installation, schedule status, financial analysis, Cost Performance Reports (CPRs) and earned value curves reports on either direct or indirect construction activities that are a part of the work.
(10) Participate in the development of the Project Completion Report including the evaluation of all subcontractors and major vendors.
(11) Incorporate lower tier field detail schedules prepared by subcontractors into the Integrated Master Schedule for monitoring and control. Ensure weekly schedule review meetings are conducted with subcontractors and corrective actions are taken to maintain the critical path activities.
(12) Assist with developing Cost and Progress reports using cornerstone PRISM Cost software.
(13) May perform document management activities.
(14) Responsible for quantity tracking, retrieving project data from subcontractors.
(15) Other tasks as requested or assigned.
(16) Work with Accounting and Accounts Payable to correct miscoded invoices as needed
(17) Active meeting participant and occasionally facilitates project or peer meetings
(18) Report functionally to Houston based Project Services Manager and receive technical direction on day-to-day activities from the Construction Superintendent.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• BS in Construction Management, Engineering, Project Management or related field, or equivalent experience
• 5-10 years planning/scheduling or cost engineering experience in a construction or engineering environment
• Able to collaborate with other support teams including Supply Chain, Expediting, Accounts Payable, and Finance to ensure project success. Constantly portrays a positive, cooperative, team oriented relationship with colleagues, supervisors, managers and contractors.

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
• Must be able to implement project control process using project management software such as Primavera Project Planner (P6), Access, Microsoft Project, Ares PRISM Cost Software, and spreadsheet and word processing software such as Microsoft Excel and Word.
• Must be able to demonstrate required knowledge of project control principles; understand the principles and concepts of cost engineering as it relates to budgeting, monitoring and tracking actual costs, change orders and forecasting; must be proficient in planning and scheduling using the critical path method.
• Must be able to develop and maintain positive, cooperative, team-oriented relationships with co-workers, supervisors, managers, contractors and other in contact with the job.
• Must be able to read and interpret design drawings and develop quantity installation plans. Must be able to perform quantity survey techniques in developing the status of construction.
