The Company:
Is a leading Automotive manufacturer with a reputation for outstanding quality the world over. With demand increasing and an upturn in production, there is a need to bring further skills into the business to deliver on current and future projects.

The Role:
Main Purpose of the Role

Identify technical failures on customer vehicles, analyse the problems and facilitate the introduction of solutions onto the production line by working with the responsible solution developer in the business. This results in increased customer satisfaction and a reduction in the company’s warranty spend.

Scope of the Role

1. Analysis of field complaint information.

a. Analysis of field complaint data to identify key customer complaints.
b. Identification of important issues to be entered into the QMM process.
c. Data analysis to identify complaint cost and occurrence trends.
d. Reporting Field Quality data and trends to Company and Group.

2. Field complaints – technical investigation

a. Conduct technical analysis of complaints to determine likely causes.
b. Lead cross functional teams to identify & resolve complex problems.
c. Serve as lead technical engineer on a group of parts/sub-systems within the Field Quality team.

3. Operation of QMM Process

The Field Quality Engineer is required to facilitate the work of engineers from around the business to resolve customer quality problems through the QMM Process. This requires:

a. Achieving an agreed handover of problems identified to relevant functions for resolution.
b. Facilitating cross functional problem solving teams to resolve issues.
c. Reporting on progress of problem resolution.
d. The preparation of information for relevant escalation meetings.
e. Using the escalation forums to overcome barriers.

4. Technical support to TSC

a. Provide technical problem solving support to TSC to assist in the resolution of complex dealer/customer issues.
b. Facilitating the activities of engineers from various functions to provide solutions to repair cars in the field.

5. New Model Activity

a. Input previous problem information into new projects and facilitate corporate learning in new projects.

Qualifications & Experience

• The Field Quality Engineer should be qualified in an Engineering / Technical related subject to at least HNC/HND or higher and/or have extensive practical automotive experience.
• Practical technical experience in the Automotive industry.
• Demonstrable decision making skills based on data and facts.
• Ability to facilitate the work of others and motivate them to achieve Quality targets.
• Positive and self-motivated team player.
• Willingness to be flexible to meet frequently changing priorities.
• Ability to liaise up to management level within the organisation.
• Excellent co-ordinating, organising skills and communication skills at all levels.
• Ability to work on own initiative and prioritise tasks.
• Good oral and visual presentation skills.
