The Role:
The Finance Manager plays a critical role in ensuring the strategic and commercial success of the business, working hand-in-hand with the Finance team and key connections across the rest of British Gas to ensure effective control over the new, existing and legacy accounting systems within the business. A wide variety of tasks are undertaken including month end accounting, purchase ledger management, PO processing and balance sheet reconciliations.


A varied role, which includes:
•Month end accounting on both the legacy SAGE Line 200 system and current SAP system.

Specific roles to include:
• Month end accruals and prepayments
• Balance Sheet reconciliations Managing a legacy SAGE Line 200 Purchase Ledger system which is being wound down.
• Processing purchase invoices, including matching to Purchase Orders where applicable
• Processing cash payments and receipts on the Cashbook
• Processing Purchase Orders on SAGE Line 200
• Handling supplier invoice queries
• Supplier statement reconciliations
• Bank Reconciliations
• Producing weekly/fortnightly payment runs
• Ensuring appropriate authorisation of purchase invoices
• Helping to ensure that the transfer of location from Cambridge to London is as smooth as possible
• Working in a team based environment where all employees work together for the good of the business
• Managing PO processes in SAP / SRM
• Seek cost reduction opportunities

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• Previous full Balance Sheet reconciliation experience
• Previous accruals and prepayment journaling experience
• Previous invoicing / accounts payable experience
• Previous experience of posting cash transactions
• Sage 200 (desirable)
• SAP/SRM/ERP/BW (desirable)
• Excel (Intermediate/Advanced level)
• Service Now (desirable)
• Familiarity with transactions in foreign currencies
• Ability to communicate with all members of staff
• Ability to prioritise and work on own initiative and as part of a team
• Attention to detail • Good communicator skills and manage conflicts within the team
• Flexible worker, able to multi task, and self-motivate with the ability to use initiative and prioritise effectively with minimum supervision
• Adaptable to change, ability to learn new processes whilst delivering without compromising customer service
• Keen to develop and cover other tasks within the team
• Committed team worker, good communicator and able to manage rel
