The Company:
Our client, a diverse Canadian Energy Company, plans new developments estimated at $12+ Billion over the next 5 years.
This position is open to Canadian Citizens and Permanent Residents only. Residents of Newfoundland & Labrador will be given first consideration for this position.

The Role:
Reports to and receives direction from the Project Accounting Lead — Corporate. The incumbent is expected to exercise a high level of personal initiative and judgment in assisting with the accounting and controls activities associated with the Project.

SUMMARY OF JOB FUNCTION:
The incumbent will assist the Project Accounting Lead - Corporate with various financial reporting responsibilities to ensure the efficient processing and accounting for project costs. The individual will be responsible for monitoring various cost control accounts to ensure that adequate budget funds exist for ongoing and future project activities. The incumbent will prepare monthly reports as necessary to support relevant agreements as well as analyze and prepare cash flow and foreign currency impact reports.

PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following is being executed as a contract scope of work:
• Assist with the preparation and deliver as necessary quality financial reporting that contributes to effective policy and decision-making.
• Maintain the Project's JDE chart of accounts and related mapping to Prism
• Assist in development of project general ledger codes or cost centres
• Reconciliation of corporate financial records to those of the Project Controls system (Prism) on a monthly basis and perform the necessary analytical reviews.
• Compilation of monthly activity for specific budget holders as well as preparation of a variance analysis on specific cost control accounts.
• Computation of accumulated costs in accordance with the provisions of relevant agreements.
• Ensure compliance with existing corporate policies and procedures.
• Assist with capital budget preparation for the project as required.
• Assist in the preparation of Authority for Expenditure Requests.
• Co-ordinate preparation of cash/currency forecasts and design related processes.
• Other related duties as assigned.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Bachelor of Business Administration/Commerce degree or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience, as well as a professional accounting designation (CA, CGA, CMA.)
• Experience in multi-currency environment providing financial reporting and analysis, business process development, system administration and financial and accounting controls.
• Minimum of five (5) years experience on large resource development projects or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
• Demonstrate awareness and sensitivity to safety, health and environmental issues.
• Strong analytical skills.
• Good leadership and communication skills.
• Expert working knowledge of accounting principles (GAAP), IFRS, current standards and emerging issues.
• Excellent working knowledge of JD Edwards is desirable.
• Ability to work minimal management direction.
• Assist with the development of programs and objectives to meet the general objectives of the Project.
