The Company:
Our Client is a major petrochemical company in Qatar.

The Role:
Role Objective:
This role is to provide assistance to the Financial Accounting team in day to day operations and transactions to help achieving that all processes related to Financial Accounting are carried out efficiently, effectively and in accordance with regulatory requirements as well as applicable International Accounting and Financial Reporting standards.

Roles and Responsibilities:
The Financial Coordinator is expected to assist the 3 senior staff members in the Financial Accounting section, including but not limited to :

1. Financial closing process, period-end related activities in the ERP system
2. Financial Statements preparation and consolidation
3. Preparation (not posting) of journal entries, and performing GL and SL reconciliation activities as required
4. Running GL reports, Trial balances and other reports from the ERP on ad-hoc basis
5. After initial period of 3-6 months: make suggestions to the senior staff in the area of effective preventive and detective financial controls and internal compliance processes to ensure financial and receivable activities are conducted in line with the Manual of Authorities (MoA) and International Accounting standards.
Furthermore the incumbent is expected to :
- Further develop his/her functional skills and competencies to increase effectiveness and value of assistance provided in the role
- Provide support and assist with completion of internal and external audit requirements (indirectly – via supervisor)
- Ensure all activities conducted in a safe and environmentally sound manner

Context/Special Features/ Challenges:
The revenues from chemicals, polymers and fertilizers represent a significant contribution to the gross revenues of the state of Qatar, the protection and control of which are a matter of national importance.

The finance function provides the structure and controls system to ensure that all the company’s assets, revenues and payments are approved according to the Manual of Authorities and are accurately recorded, reported and protected

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Graduate degree in Accounting (Chartered Accountant) is a must.

This is a junior position in our Organisation. Required is at least one year working experience, in a role where the theoretical knowledge (IFRS / IAS) gained during education was applied.

- Team player, Internal Customer Focus and good communication skills
- Pro-active nature
- Able to work under some pressure and meeting deadlines

Technical Competencies:
- Good written and verbal communication skills in the English language
-Maintain Books of Account (Operational Capability)
- Good understanding of International Accounting standards IFRS/IAS.
- Understanding /Awareness of Accounting Policies and Standards
- Basic understanding/awareness of controls framework
- Some training (experience) with SAP is a pro
- Knowledge of Word, Excel and Power Point.
