Our Client is a Global Leading Oil & Gas Operating Company

The Role:
Our Client is looking for a Forgings Metallurgy specialist to be based in Houston with occassional Business Trips as required: -

The Forgings Metallurgy Specialist provides project technical support for critical forgings manufacture and supply in upstream oil and gas production and will be located in Houston, TX.

Primary Job Functions:

• Support new construction projects with assistance in the specification, selection, qualification, testing, and failure analysis of forgings required for upstream oil and gas production and transportation
• Work with materials suppliers to qualify new forging materials and corrosion resistant alloys (including duplex and lean duplex)
• Work with internal procurement regarding mill audits and technical bid evaluation for long lead forging supply orders
• Work with engineering and construction contractors to review and troubleshoot supply of critical forgings and fittings for large scale offshore and onshore field development construction projects
• Revise internal specifications for construction, purchasing, and fabrication of forging materials to implement lessons learned and current industry standards
• Represent company in international technical and standards organizations

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• A B.S./M.S./Ph.D. degree in metallurgical engineering, material science, or related field with demonstrated industry experience
• Direct experience with forging production as well as materials specification for demanding environments including low temperature and sour service
• Familiarity with metallurgical processing, material fabrication, welding, mechanical and corrosion testing, as well as failure analysis of carbon steel and corrosion resistant alloys
• Conversant in industry standard practices and documentation for welding, testing, inspection, and specification of critical forgings, fittings, and flanges
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally to supplier and field production locations

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
• Project engineering experience on large construction projects
• General knowledge of corrosion electrochemistry and corrosion inhibition of metallic goods
• Practical experience with standard test methods for mechanical testing and fracture mechanics
• Expertise in codes and standards applied, including API, ASME, ASTM, DNV, and ISO
• Self-motivated and focused on achieving business results through a multi-disciplinary team
• Demonstrated teamwork and leadership skills
