The Company:
Our client is an international energy and water company in 11 countries across four continents.

In the Netherlands, they focus on the development of strategic energy infrastructure projects and on the exploration and production of oil and gas. They operate oil and gas production platforms in the North Sea and natural gas storage and production facilities in the province of Noord-Holland for over 40 years.

The Role:
The Functional Application Specialist is responsible for the provision of IT application design, IT development, IT maintenance and IT support services to users of the Gas Storages with a specific focus on Europe’s most advanced and largest third party access gas storage facility.

The IT-systems are used to:

a) Provide gas storage services (like injection and withdrawal nominations and trading of capacities & gas in store) and
b) maintain the gas balance in the gas storage portfolios provided by the Dutch gas transport network operator Gas Transport Services.

The Functional Application Specialist will become member of a team of currently 7 people (3 Client and 4 contractors) which is business oriented and where every team member takes full ownership of the things to be done.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Delivering support to business users by investigating and resolving application errors, data discrepancies; answer queries and manage IT vendors.
Maintain and configure the IT-systems to ensure 24*7 availability and reliability of the IT-systems.
Identifying and proposing better uses, enhancements in IT-systems based on business and/or IT requirements.
Develop, test and deploy new IT-system functionality and enhancements or have them developed, tested and deployed by other team members or IT vendors.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Bachelor’s or Academic degree in information / communications science area or comparable.
5 years working experience (in an analytical / ICT role) within the energy industry.
Customer-service oriented, both externally and internally.
A strong delivery track record and demonstration of an ability to overcome obstacles.
Outstanding analytical skills.
Structured and logical way of working.
Familiar with IT infrastructure components (hardware, databases, operating systems, local area networks etc.).
Excellent team working & communication skills which fit in our DevOps team.
Good networking and some negotiating skills to maintain relationships with a range of contacts.

Self-starter combined with determined completion skills.
Planning and organizing skills.
Taking responsibility from start to finish.
Ability to work under tight timelines with multiple responsibilities.
Fluent in English and Dutch.

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
Qualification in programming in .NET, VBA or SQL based languages.
Qualification in Agile IT development methodologies like SCRUM.
Experience with gas dispatch processes, gas storage processes and related messaging structures like Edig@s.
Experience in working with Agile IT development and software support methodologies like SCRUM, ITIL, DevOps, etc.
Experience in programming in VBA, .NET or SQL database languages.
