The Company:
Is a leading Automotive manufacturer with a reputation for outstanding quality the world over. With demand increasing and an upturn in production, there is a need to bring further skills into the business to deliver on current and future projects.

The Role:
To manage the Emissions and Chassis Test facilities and lead the test teams, delivering test activities to the required timing, cost and quality to support the objectives of the Powertrain department. Management of the maintenance and development of the facility test equipment and infrastructure, ensuring availability of the required capability and capacity.

Key Responsibilities

1. Manage and lead a tem to deliver technical solution in their field of expertise, to the defined Product Emergence Process.
a. Accountable for determine legislative, procedural and quality requirements for Emissions and Chassis testing to meet current and future internal customer needs
b. Responsible for delivery of the above targets, development of test facilities, processes and team competencies
c. Responsible for the collation and presentation of data to support Engineering/cross functional meetings and forums
d. Accountable for test program planning and budget management for the area

2. Establish and develop effective team strategy
a. Responsible for organisation/structure design in order to achieve effective test delivery through optimum utlilisation of internal test facilities.
b. Management of all resourcing activities , personal development/talent management and successions planning to achieve team strategy
c. Develop team strategies (technology, people and process) to support core competence development of department and team members.
d. Develop strong working relationships with Group colleagues and direct counterparts to support team deliverables

3. Management of a team and prioritisation of tasks
a. Responsible for cascade of business objectives to team and monitoring of objectives on a regular basis through business, departmental or personal KPI's
b. Support and provide guidance on technical development and implementation of systems/processes and/or technologies in line with test delivery objectives.
c. Management of team budgets (cost centre and capital) and resource plans to support multiple product development projects.
d. Manage and priories team tasks and activities for effective delivery
e. Effective leadership and representation in cross- functional forums and ability to influence product development towards business objectives.
f. Responsible for effective communication channels and working relationships within the team via regular team meetings, 1;1's, performance reviews, coaching and supporting others.
g. Management of performance, personal development and talent management within the team.
h. Supporting business requirements/projects and initiatives, or employee relations matters as appropriate.

4. Accountable for developing own and teams specialist technical and business knowledge/capability
a. Ability to encourage, train and support others in developing practical knowledge, competence and expertise in order to keep up with the latest in the relevant field.
b. Assist and coach others in all aspects of Engineering process and principles.
c. Ability to provide design and development direction/guidance to team members.
d. Responsible for establishing and maintaining liaison with group colleagues and external deign partners , where necessary.

5. Departmental Responsibilities
a. Propose departmental strategy for facilities, infrastructure and resources for approval by the Head of Department, to satisfy the future Powertrain Test requirements to support the Powertrain technical strategy.
b. Ensure effective use of internal and external resources for maintenance and calibration of all test equipment to ensure compliance with legislative and quality requirements and maximise availability

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Degree in appropriate Engineering discipline, or equivalent with the appropriate level of experience
Preferable Chartered Status or working towards
German language would be an advantage

Demonstrable experience as People manager/strong leadership skills gained within the Automotive industry.
Demonstrable experience of Automotive Product Development in relevant area.
Experience of Automotive platform engineering would be beneficial.
Good business awareness and ability to make, and influence decisions within the business context.
Ability to monitor and plan both project and people KPI's.
Excellent time management and organisational skills (self and team)
Understanding and ability to demonstrate behaviours in line with the Companies People Profile.

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
Detailed technical knowledge of current Emissions test technology and future trends.
Exposure to and use of state of the art test methods and processes.
Detailed knowledge of current and future legislative requirements
product development
Leadership, effective communication, influencing skills
Project and budget management/forecasting skills
Demonstrable knowledge and application of Company problem solving tools and skills
Ability to manage time and priorities for self and team
Ability to travel internationally and work flexibly as required
