The Company:
Is a leading Automotive manufacturer with a reputation for outstanding quality the world over. With demand increasing and an upturn in production, there is a need to bring further skills into the business to deliver on current and future projects.

The Role:
Responsible for leading, managing and developing a team that ensures both capacity and capability to deliver technical and business objectives to the right quality, on time and within budget for an Engineering area.


1.Manage and lead a team to deliver technical solution in their field of expertise, to the defined Product Emergence Process.
2. Accountable for benchmarking and target setting for Product design & development including specified targets. i.e. technical, cost, quality, weight targets; testing etc.
3. Responsible for delivery of the above targets through design and development including management of Engineering changes.
4 Responsible for the collation and presentation of data to support Engineering / cross- functional meetings and forums.
5. Responsible for leading problem resolution of Warranty & Quality issues.
6. Accountable for project/product planning and budget management for the area
7. Establish and develop effective team strategy

a. Responsible for organisation/structure design in order to achieve effective product development deliverables from first principles onwards.

b. Management of all resourcing activities, personal development/talent management and succession planning to achieve team strategy.

c. Develop team strategies (technology, people and process) to support core competence development of department and team members.

d. Develop strong working relationships with Group colleagues and direct counterparts to support team deliverables.

8. Management of a team and prioritisation of tasks.
9. Responsible for cascade of business objectives to team and monitoring of objectives on a regular basis through business, departmental or personal KPI’s.
10. Support and provide guidance on technical development of system/s and/or technologies in line with product development objectives.
11. Management of team budgets (projects, cost centre and capital) and resource plans to support multiple product development projects.
12. Manage and prioritise team tasks and activities for effective delivery.
13. Effective leadership and representation in cross-functional forums and ability to influence product development towards business objectives.
14. Responsible for effective communication channels and working relationships within the team via regular team meetings, 1:1’s , performance reviews, coaching and supporting others.
15. Management of performance, personal development and talent management within the team.
16. Supporting business requirements/projects and initiatives, or employee relations matters as appropriate.
17. Accountable for developing own and team’s specialist technical and business knowledge/capability.
18. Ability to encourage, train and support others in developing practical knowledge, competence and expertise in order to keep up with latest in the relevant field.
19. Assist and coach others in all aspects of engineering process and principles.
20. Ability to provide design and development direction/guidance to team members.
21. Responsible for establishing and maintaining liaison with group colleagues and external design partners, where necessary.


Demonstrable experience as People Manager/has strong leadership skills, working within the Automotive industry.
Demonstrable experience of Automotive Product Development in relevant area.
Experience of Automotive platform engineering would be beneficial.
Good business awareness and ability to make, and influence decisions within business context.
Ability to monitor and plan both project and people KPI’s.
Excellent time management and organisational skills (self and team).
Understanding and ability to demonstrate behaviours in line with the Bentley People Framework.


Automotive product development.
Leadership, effective communication, influencing skills.
Project and budget management/forecasting skills.
Demonstrable knowledge and application of Company problem solving tools and skills.
Ability to manage time and priorities for self and team.
Ability to travel internationally and work flexibly as required.


Degree in an appropriate Engineering discipline, or equivalent with the appropriate level of experience.
Preferably Chartered Status or working towards/desire to achieve Chartered Status.
Proficiency in German language would be an advantage.
