The Company:
Our Client is a world leading Automotive OEM which is responsible for some of the most iconic 4x4's & Sports Cars produced. Due to the huge demand for current models and substantial investment in future projects there is a requirement for more resources across the business in engineering & manufacturing on a contract basis.

The Role:
Member of a team of functional safety engineers, who perform functional safety lifecycle activities in compliance with ISO26262, and have responsibility for the particular systems assigned to them. The role includes working with the owners of electronic control units in Electrical, Powertrain, Hybrids, Chassis and Research in the application of the functional safety process and in liaison with suppliers. The role also includes resolving system interaction issues at the electrical integration level. Responsibilities
To support other non-specialist staff performing functional safety activities
To perform Confirmation Reviews on functional safety work products produced by other staff
To support JLR staff resolve functional safety issues with suppliers
To support incorporation of functional safety activities into JLR engineering processes
To ensure that the JLR functional safety processes are followed in the development of features/systems/components
To ensure that the safety requirements for JLR products derived in a logical and rational manner and are rigorously documented
To assess the adequacy of system validation evidence and documentation
To assess the functional safety work required for the vehicle programme
Degree in electrical, software, mechanical, systems or system safety engineering

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Ability to perform function safety lifecycle activities, particularly hazard identification & classification Safety requirements derivation Design analysis Verification Validation planning Safety case writing.
Experience of working to ISO 26262, IEC 61508, or equivalent standards

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
Systems engineering, failure mode avoidance, FMEA, requirements cascade, design analysis together with the ability to write reports. Experience of systems engineering and the use of standard notations, e.g. SysML
Automotive systems or other embedded systems Experience of distributed systems
Qualification in Functional Safety or System Safety
