The Company:
Our Client is a world leading Automotive OEM which is responsible for some of the most iconic 4x4's & Sports Cars produced. Due to the huge demand for current models and substantial investment in future projects there is a requirement for more resources across the business in engineering & manufacturing on a contract basis.

The Role:
Key Responsibilities & Tasks: -
* Specify and deliver the measuring equipment and facilities to meet project quality and timing requirements.
* Specify and deliver the calibration equipment facilities to meet project quality and timing requirements.
* Define and develop measuring and gauging strategies to ensure quality and productivity targets are met or exceeded.
* Perform measurement systems analysis on new and existing equipment.
* Develop and refine Bills of Process for measuring and gauging to develop global standard operating practices.
* Develop and refine departmental standards, work instructions and procedures.
* Create technical specifications and tender documentation.
* Analyse vendor proposals to select suppliers and solutions.
* Support new programme development with cost, specification and timing estimates.
* Assist with the creation of budgets and the management of project costs and spend.
* Liaise with suppliers on all aspects of a project, from specification and procurement of equipment through to commissioning and capability at the vendor*s facility and the final production facility.
* Input to the factory layout with the design of measuring facilities, giving due consideration to lean principles.
* Analyse vendor proposals to enable supplier selection and identify solutions that meet or exceed the business requirements.
* Assist process and tooling engineers with the analysis of component part print GD&T to develop and deliver robust manufacturing processes.
* Work to ensure measuring and calibration strategy and methodology is robust, supports the required production volumes and quality metrics, and maintains the correct balance of machining over measuring times.
* Support PDLs with cost, specification and timing estimates, assist with the creation of budgets for new programmes, and the management of project costs and spend.
* Support the creation of PFMEAs.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
* MS Office skills
* Knowledge of SPC, MSA and process capability gained in an automotive production context
* Understanding or familiarity with automotive systems, practices and procedures
* Experience working to tight deadlines in a high volume production environment
* A practical working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing in accordance with ASME Y14.5 or BS8888 is highly desirable, preferably gained within the automotive industry.
* Proven experience working in a production machining environment. Capable of meeting tight deadlines while working under pressure.
* Flexible regarding work location

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
Role will be based at Whitley, but there will be the requirement to travel to other sites. The role requires the need for international travel, both within Europe and outside, of varying durations, possibly up to several weeks, as and when required.
