The Company:
A luxury Automotive OEM based in the West Midlands. After continued growth & success there are a number of new exciting engineering projects underway and we currently have requirements for experienced engineering professionals.

The Role:
Job Purpose

Our Client's IT function has responsibility for all global enterprise IT operations and significant IT projects including an enterprise-wide ERP Implementation.

The GM will provide technology vision and leadership in the development and implementation of information technology (IT) within our Client's Group of Companies. The GM will lead the planning and implementing of enterprise information systems to support both distributed and centralized business operations and achieve more effective and cost beneficial enterprise-wide IT operations.

Key Responsibilities & Tasks
•Oversee the development, design, and implementation of new applications and changes to existing computer systems and software packages.
•Identify emerging information technologies to be assimilated, integrated, and introduced within our Client.
•Assess new computing technologies to determine potential value for our Client across the globe.
•Oversee the infrastructure operations of the entire organisation, including local area networks and the MPLS wide-area networks, connecting ensuring global network connectivity.
•Oversee on-going improvements and the feasibility of system enhancements.
•Establish company infrastructure to support and guide individual divisions/departments/sites in computing and information technology efforts.
•Establish and implement tactical and strategic departmental goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures in line with our Client's strategic objectives.
•Serve on and where necessary lead planning and IT policy-making committees.
•Direct and manage computing and information technology strategic plans, policies, programs, and schedules for business and finance data processing, computer services, network communications, and management information services to accomplish corporate goals and objectives.
•Direct the information and data integrity of the company and its business units.
•Develop strategic plans and implement the objectives of the information technology needs of the company to ensure the computer capabilities are responsive to the needs of the company’s growth and objectives.
•Develop and establish operating policies and approaches for computing and information technology.
•Evaluate overall operations of computing and information technology functions and recommend enhancements.
•Interact with company managers on internal and external operations that are impacted by the capture, storage, processing and dissemination of information.
•Review and approve major contracts for computing and information technology services and equipment.
•Ensure the security of the information systems, communication lines, and equipment.
•Responsible for the development, review, and certification of all back-up and disaster recovery procedures and plans.
•Align IT risk management with enterprise wide risk management
•Provide a service delivery framework to ensure that business operations are maintained at an acceptable level

Qualifications & Experience
•Excellent interpersonal skills at all levels both within and outside the organisation
•Professional communication skills both written and spoken
•Advanced negotiation skills
•Budgetary control both Capex and Opex
•Commercial and business awareness
•Strong influencing skills with senior level executives
•Confidence dealing with suppliers and forging strong supplier partnerships
•Experience in strategic planning and execution.
•Knowledge of contracting, negotiating, and change management.
•Knowledge of information technology computer systems and software and the ability to manage the entire spectrum of information technology operations.
•Experience with implementation of information technology integrations in a large division/company.
•Ability to motivate teams to produce quality output within tight timeframes and simultaneously oversee several strategic projects.
•Ability to participate in and facilitate executive and stakeholder steering meetings.
•Work requires willingness to work a flexible schedule
•Experience in a role which has needed the demonstration of the above skills/competencies
•Ten years of experience in a senior-level information technology position.
•Familiarity with the Automotive industry – its critical issues and major challenges
•A track record of working in a geographically diverse complex organization
•A track record of successful large project implementations
•Demonstrated business acumen to work effectively with other Executives to achieve key business and technology goals.
•Demonstrated programme delivery skills.
