The Role:
• The subsurface team has an immediate opportunity for a highly skilled and motivated geologist.
• The SNS subsurface team will be drilling the soon to be sanctioned development well in mid-2012 as well as evaluating opportunities for future infill drilling and production optimisation for 2012 – 2015.
• The EIS team is progressing the 3-field Rivers Phase II development into the AFF stage gate in mid-2012 and is re-evaluating one of the producing fields, Millom, for additional opportunities.
• The individual will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team in Aberdeen, Scotland, which supports COP-operated joint venture activities in the Carboniferous and Rotliegendes core areas of the SNS, as well as the HRL-operated EIS assets where COP holds 100% equity.
• The successful candidate will be an individual contributor to both assets and will ensure good communication with a wide range of groups and people that include:
• joint venture partners at TCM level, production and drilling engineering groups, JV Managers and the functional chiefs to ensure that projects are delivered efficiently and on time.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• The job requires a strong technical background in geology involving field development.
• Experience in well operations and in developing Petrel geological models is desirable.
• The candidate should also display good team working, interpersonal and communication skills.
• experience of working in an integrated multi-disciplinary asset development environment.
• He/she should also be a self-starter, and work effectively to meet deadlines, with some flexibility to take on new projects with focus and a sense of urgency as required.
