The Role:
Ensure an accelerated Operating Unit (OU) uptake of the geomechanical and integrated borehole stability technologies which may also include technologies related to pore pressure estimations, hole cleaning, swab-surge, lost circulation, well bore breathing, etc
Coordinate activities with the existing teams and individuals engaged in fluids and geomechanics related research and deployment
Technical consulting provision includes the entire spectrum of traditional oilfield related integrated borehole stability services stated above
Interact with Shell’s worldwide technology organization, OU’s and new ventures
Will be a member of Shell’s Geomechanics and Wellbore Stability Team in Houston
Provide technical consulting,services and training for Shell’s worldwide operating units in the areas described above
Interaction with the existing Shallow Hazards and Pore Pressure teams and Applied Wells Technology teams and maximize leverage of Integrated Service Company expertise to meet Shell OU technical and Business Objectives
Proper interfacing with other initiatives in the Shell Group, such as Drilling the Limit, Water Flooding, EOR, Under Balanced Drilling, Extended Reach Drilling and Expandable Tubulars will be required to make sure that not only will a sustainable geomechanical and borehole stability support capability be built up in existing Shell OU’s but also in new ventures
Close interaction and cooperation with Shell operating unit personnel (e.g. drilling engineers, production engineers, production chemists) is also expected

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Master’s degree or foreign equivalent and higher in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Geosciences or Petroleum Engineering
3 years experience in deploying Geomechanics and Borehole Stability Technology
Recent graduates possessing a Ph.D. or Master’s degree in petroleum engineering, geomechanics, or related areas may be considered
Should have a sound general experience of operational activities preferably specializing in borehole stability and related geomechanics activities
Strong desire to learn new technologies is expected
Possess strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to mentor and coach OU staff
Able to communicate, with equal ease, with technology teams, service company experts and OU communities
Will be familiar with oilfield geomechanics applications like borehole stability during well construction and production, well stimulation and field-scale evaluations
Will have a high degree of comfort with computer applications and finite element appl

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
Experience in the drilling fluid area will be preferred but not necessary
