The Role:
The successful individual will have a broad knowledge of geology and geophysics covering 3D seismic interpretation in particular. The geophysicist will be responsible for the detailed interpretation of new state-of –the-art Ocean Bottom Node seismic data on the field, West of Shetlands and integrating with appraisal well data and regional studies.
The reservoir sands have a unique setting, trapped in Palaeocene volcanics in deep water and the interpretation of reservoir architecture will be critical in building new reservoir models to support development decisions and in planning potential well locations. The Geophysicist will provide geological/geophysical expertise in a multi-discipline asset team testing new ideas as well as supporting the development project to meet team and corporate goals. He/she will - be able to integrate subsurface (well) information into interpretations with use of cross-sections, maps, seismic displays, visualization techniques, fault mapping, etc. - Be proficient in 3D workstation interpretation tools & techniques - Be responsible with the subsurface team for selecting proposed well locations and providing geological support for development decisions - Provide geophysical inputs for a range of reservoir models. - Contribute to building a regional structural and stratigraphic framework and developing a working understanding of the regional petroleum system He/she will have strong communication skills with the ability to present ideas and results to team members, management and partners. The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job in an office setting. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.


Occasional travel may be required.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
A Master’s degree in geophysics or geology
