The Role:
To provide a professional and efficient Data Management service for Europe E&P, Norway Geoscience community.
• Proactive in understanding the data management requirements of the Geoscience users.
• Locating, QC and loading of data (predominantly well) to relevant project databases (e.g. Recall, Techlog, Petrel). Preparation of datasets for analysis including log, survey, DST, RFT, core and tops.
• Use template plots to QC data and depth shift as required.
• Creating, updating or archiving project files as requested.
• Ensure BG receives all relevant log data for operated and non-operated wells and that these data are loaded to databases and archived to BG corporate standards.
• Responsible for the distribution of log and core data topartners in BG operated wells.
• Providing assistance and training to users in the manipulation of these data within project files/databases.
• Ensuring that data is loaded according to corporate procedures and standards allowing easy access to definitive data and CPI results for external auditors.
• Verifying that the data within the project data store meets any quality criteria specified.
• Increasing Data Management efficiency by reducing time spent by users searching for Geoscience data.
• Carrying out periodic audits on the completeness, validity and quality of data stored in the project data store.
• Enforce good data and database practices (e.g. version control, deleting log files, capturing interpretation data) and implementing any agreed actions on the users behalf.
• Delivering services in a professional and timely manner ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction is achieved.
Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• Degree in a relevant subject (Geoscience, IM or IT related) plus Geoscience data management experience within an Oil and Gas Exploration environment.
• Must be both a good team player and at the same time self-motivated and capable of working unsupervised.
• Experience in loading Geoscience data (well data) to industry standard and applications (e.g. Petrobank, Recall, Techlog, Petrel etc) essential.
• Strong understanding of Geoscience database environments (Recall, Techlog, Petrel etc.) essential.
• Knowledge of industry best-practice and procedures and standards related to Geoscience data essential.
• Strong understanding of Oil industry data workflows and datatypes.
• Strong general IT skills essential, with good system administration experience (either in UNIX, Linux or PC environment).
• Strong interpersonal skills essential as you will interact with varying levels of technical and managerial staff at client sites, other consultants, associates, etc.
