The Company:
Large, international Exploration & Production company.

The Role:

The successful candidate will lead a team of Geoscientists to analyze seismic and subsurface information to identify areas for new prospects &/or plays within the regional Paleogene team. Technical skills include seismic interpretation, depth imaging, structural, facies, seal and basin risk analyses, and some knowledge of deep water sands and salt tectonics. Ability to lead and influence others to synthesize and risk prospect portfolios and new plays is critical, must be able to compare the relative technical, commercial, economic and strategic merits of competing opportunities and make recommendations to upper management. The position is 50% leadership and 50% technical. The position will require close interaction and collaboration with the following internal groups: Maturation, Appraisal, Production, Technology, Land/Commercial and Planning.


Lead team to map and integrate regional seismic & subsurface correlations to evaluate and generate new deepwater Paleogene prospect and play opportunities; make new opportunity recommendations to management by providing geological/geophysical summaries, risk analysis, economics and commercial considerations.

Lead team to update regional Evergreen maps and Play Fairway Analysis, recommend new data sets including regional 3D, JIP and scout data.

Lead team to evaluate technical and commercial data to recommend strategic participation in lease sales and farm-ins; monitor and analyze industry activity to help set direction of Paleogene team and GOM Exploration.

Work with Chief Geophysicist to monitor seismic imaging projects, work with staff on velocity modeling, and coach skill builder Geophysicists about Geophysical applications and technology.

Organize and participate in peer reviews and team risking for resource estimates, prospect ranking, potential development scenarios and full-cycle economics.

Work with team to manage multiple projects that have near-term and long-term goals or milestones; ensure technical quality of work and collaboration with other GoM teams.

Work with leadership team to develop business plans and strategic vision.
Clearly communicate, document and present project results and recommendations to upper Management; work with leadership team to develop and monitor annual goals; meet weekly with individual staff to understand projects and provide

Essential Skills / Qualifications:

Degree: Bachelors Required, Masters Preferred
Major Discipline: Geophysics or Geology, Geophysics preferred
Years Experience Required: Minimum 10 years total industry experience
Computer Proficiencies: Intermediate PC skills are required in Microsoft desktop suites. ArcMap, Landmark and Risk Analysis are important.
