The Company:
Our client, a major owner-operator is currently looking for a Geotechnical Engineer for their ongoing oil sands operations.

This position is only open to Canadian Citizens and Canadian Permanent Residents. The eligible candidate must be a registered P.Eng.

The Role:
Project management of inpit dyke and ETF structures. Communicating with field staff, designers, planners, and operations. Job is a M-Th or T-Fr or occasionally rotation

The selected candidate will work directly with the Engineer of record on managing the design and construction of various structures and must ensure lead in safe compliant and production results . The selected candidate will interact with the operations and design teams to insure the structures are built operationally and following specs. The selected candidate is also expected to contribute to and manage the instrumentation monitoring operations and personnel, as well as construction monitoring (QA/QC) teams. Selected candidate is expected to manage drilling programs and assist in increasing efficiency and cost cutting.

• Managing Safety and ensuring Compliance and Conformance for various projects and people
• Managing geotechnical instrumentation and QA/QC data, inventory and personnel
• Managing design and providing insight to the designers on the behaviour of the structures
• Managing budgets and special projects
• Managing databases and automation
• Interacting directly with designer teams, operations and mine/tailings planners
• Provide approvals to construction for the various structures as per design and specs

This is a rotational role - Schedule: Mon – Thurs (10-4), flights provided from Calgary or Edmonton only.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Bachelor degree in Geotechnical, Civil or Geological Engineering (P.Eng)

Candidate should have at least 5 years experience as a geotechnical engineer and is familiar with heavy oil work and practices. Candidate should have intermediate to high proficiency in the different Microsoft office applications and the AutoCAD software. Also, familiarity with the different geotechnical and mining software is an asset (Gtilt, Geoslope, Vulcan, and Gint etc).
