The Role:
To take responsibility geotechnical design activities associated with the delivery of Power transmission.
This will cover designs associated with:
• Substations
• Overhead Lines
• Cable Projects

This role does not require the individual to have worked in the Power transmission / Energy sector before. Our client is looking for a person with excellent geotechnical engineering skills. Other training to develop in the role will be provided as required. This role may grow to managing a small geotechnical team over time as the workload in the company develops. It also provides a good career development route on the engineering career path. From the development of the role this will open up a range of career progression opportunities for the individual. The preferred candidate would be flexible, enjoy varied challenges and looking for a role that they can develop whilst also developing their own career.

The role requires an individual to provide geotechnical guidance across the Transmission and Distribution operating unit. Within this role you will be responsible for carrying out:
• Desktop assessments to determine indicative ground conditions
• Estimation of potential foundation or support structure types
• Site non intrusive investigations to assess ground conditions
• Preparation of specifications for site intrusive investigation works
• Site support in managing sub-contractors
• Development of interpretive reports from site and laboratory for use by our engineering and site teams

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
• Good Computer skills
• Minimum BSc / BEng (Hons) in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical or other relevant land science degree with ideally 5 years post graduate experience in Civil Design.
• Chartered Membership would be an advantage (or nearing application to a relevant institution.
• Good interpersonal skills
• Able to work within a team environment.
• Full clean Driving License.
• Must have an understanding of site practices, which should include foundation construction and temporary works.
