The Company:
Our Client is an International Oil and Gas Operator involved in 2 of Australia's largest LNG Projects based in Western Australia.

The Role:
The Gorgon Expansion project is investigating the feasibility of expanding the Gorgon development on Barrow Island and accelerating the development of selected fields within the Greater Gorgon area. The project will be planning and executing a geophysical and geotechnical scope of work to include offshore geophysical and geotechnical surveys, shallow & deep water, data acquisition and analysis, lab testing & reporting.

A Geotechnical Engineer with minimum 10 years experience of geophysical and geotechnical surveys is required to direct and execute the offshore geophysical and geotechnical engineering scope of work for Chevron, initially as a Company Representative during the survey execution, and subsequently based at the Chevron office in Perth managing the post-fieldwork activities being undertaken by the Contractor(s).

The responsibilities of geotechnical engineer will include but not be limited to:
• Act as Company Representative offshore during the execution of the geophysical and geotechnical surveys, with responsibility for managing both commercial and technical (QC) issues.
• Plan and oversee Contractor(s) post-fieldwork activities, including but not limited to geotechnical laboratory testing programme, interpretation, reporting and engineering analysis.
• Provide Geophysical and Geotechnical assessments to Chevron pipeline & subsea engineering teams as required.
• Act as interface between the Contractor(s) and sub-contractors and Chevron pipeline & subsea engineering teams.

Rotational position, 35 day rotation, 9 hour day while in Perth

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
The candidate should either have a BSc or MSc engineering degree and 10+ years experience in Geotechnical Engineering, including 5+ years experience in the planning and executing of deepwater geophysical and geotechnical surveys, including fieldwork planning, cost estimating, Company Representative experience, assignment of laboratory testing, data interpretation & reporting, selection of engineering design parameters, and soil-structure interaction studies.
