The Role:
The Role:

The purpose of this Corporate accounting role is to contribute to the preparation of quarterly and annual Group Accounts submissions and annual Statutory Accounts preparation for the company in the North Sea. Specifically, to provide support and advice to the Company Accounting delivery team on Group Accounting issues in a dual currency accounting environment. Also to support our clients on various aspects of financial accounting, including annual Statutory and Tax reporting. Various ad hoc projects and activities as required. Qualified accountant, skilled in all aspects of financial accounting and with SAP experience; or with significant overall relevant industry or financial accounting experience.

Main Duties:

• Production of quarterly and annual group accounts submission.

• Responsible for the accounting within specific areas of this submission.

• Involves knowledge & application of policies, procedures & tools and relevant current accounting standards.

• Requires the ability to identify, resolve and provide guidance on complex accounting & reporting issues.

• Contact with senior personnel.

• Preparation of Statutory Accounts for filing and supporting tax analysis for a number of client companies.

• Respond to ad hoc queries & give advise as required to external auditors, client personnel & other teams supporting the client.

• Proactive contribution to Continuous Improvement initiatives.

• General support within the group accounting team on other areas of responsibilities, potentially including some of the following.

• Fixed Asset Accounting, US GAAP Reporting, Revaluation, Tax Reporting, BP Finance, SOX Reporting.

• Maintenance of SAP coding / reporting structures.

• Create and maintain effective interfaces with all Accounting teams supporting the client to ensure alignment of activities and sharing knowledge and best practice.

• Create and maintain effective relationships with a range of client personnel locally and further afield, including Finance, Control & Accounting, Tax & Group Accounts Teams.

• Support alignment between Norway and Aberdeen Accounting teams.

• Introduce innovation and continuous improvement.

• Working in a team of 8.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• Qualified accountant with post qualifying experience, excellent technical financial accounting knowledge; or significant relevant long-term industry and / or financial reporting experience.

• Good technical knowledge of current accounting standards (IFRS, US & UK GAAP) and developments and Companies Act.

• Excellent working knowledge of SAP, Excel and Word.

• Self-motivated, requiring minimum supervision.

• Analytical approach.

• Strong interpersonal /query resolution skills.

• Ability to work effectively with a wide range of teams and functions.

• Proactive self-starter with ability to influence others.

• Enthusiastic and innovative, receptive to change.

• Ability to work under pressure, to tight deadlines.

• Oil industry experience & a good business understanding of the BP North Sea would be preferable.
