The Company:
An international EPC Company involved in one of the world's largest LNG developments based in Australia, as well as other energy and resource projects.

The Role:
An opportunity is available for a H&S Advisor - Commissioning to be a specialist member of the site H&S team and must possess the skills to provide leadership and direction to Contractor MEIC Teams as well as Subject Matter Expertise to the H&S Management Team. The position may include some nightshift work. The general responsibilities include working closely with the Site Contractors in order to provide a positive influence.

A solid understanding of H&S responsibilities is required including HAZID, Work Method Statement, Risk Assessment Protocol and Permit to work; this can be from a dedicated H&S role or through previous supervisory trade positions.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Commissioning safety
• Review, audit and implementation of the PTW systems
• Support to Training Department, particularly with respect to SIMOPS and commissioning
• Supporting site Hazard Intervention Program
• Incident/Injury Prevention
• Liaising with Client Operations, Commissioning Management, and Construction Management
• Liaising with Emergency Response teams
• Liaising with Incident Management teams
• Incident investigation and Root Cause Analysis
• Performing and analysis of Loss Prevention Inspections

The role will initially report to H&S Manager - Construction and will involve providing Construction/SIMOPS advice to Contractors and the site H&S Team.

It will transition to reporting to SIMOPS/Commissioning HSE Manager during mid-late 2013, dependant on Project schedule and work activities on site.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• Broad technical skills with in-depth working knowledge of SIMOPS / commissioning and construction operations – Candidate must have a recognised trade background in one of the MEIC elements e.g. Mechanical Engineer, Instrument Technician or Comp Ex - Hazardous Area Electrician
• Experience in major construction projects is essential
• Technical competence in occupational safety, risk assessment; and HSE management systems as a trades qualified Foreman/Supervisor/Superintendant.
• 10+ years broad-based experience preferred, with prior experience in Oil and Gas Projects on or offshore
• 5+ years in a lead role managing an MEIC workforce.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Effective coaching: understands performance expectations and is effective in communicating these to the work force and motivating them to achieve results.
• Possesses initiative to independently manage a diverse workload.

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
• Strong communication skills: capability to effectively interact with effectively interact with individuals of all levels
• Current Australian Trades qualification for local candidates
• Off Shore Technical Skills Record (OTSR) for applicants who have been assessed against a relevant Australian certificate trade qualification in their home country by an authorised Registered Training Organisation(RTO) and a commitment to obtain local trades registration on arrival in Australia.

• Formal internationally recognised OHS Qualifications e.g. NEBOSH General Certificate or Australian Cert IV in OHS or a desire to complete this within 6 months of accepting role if not currently held.
