The Company:
Our client is an Engineering Services company, who are an international technical consultancy, providing a range of services including licence to operate, asset management, manufacturing improvement and capital investment to customers in the chemical, petrochemical, oil & gas, pharmaceutical, manufacturing and consumer industries worldwide.

The Role:
The role is to lead the Mechanical Equipment Department within the Project Services Solution group. It is both a direct fee earning and management role. A key requirement will be to grow the department in both size and capability, by developing the range of services that the group provides in the areas of design, specification and solving client problems.

Organisation
• Grow the department by engaging directly with clients and selling the capabilities of the department to solve their problems.
• Carry out Contract Management for jobs within the Mechanical Equipment Department, including all aspects of invoicing and controlling costs.
• Manage the utilisation of the department.

People
• Lead a team of professional engineers, including static, rotating and fired equipment specialists.
• Own the succession planning for the group and carry out recruitment to meet the needs of the succession plans and increased demand for the services
• Manage the development of the team.
• Set and maintain the engineering standards for the department, and develop and improve the processes for doing so.
• Lead design projects.
• Lead development of solutions for client problems within the mechanical equipment field.
• Lead the development of Proposals and Estimates within the Mechanical Equipment function.

Customer
• Proactively interface with clients at all levels so as to understand their requirements, and to sell the ability of the department to solve their problems and meet their needs.
• Manage client relationships throughout the delivery of work, through good communication of progress and ensuring that the department delivers what it has promised.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• Static or rotating equipment specialist
• Thorough knowledge of design specs and standards used in the Chemical, Petrochemical, Oil & gas Industries
• Engineering Education to Graduate Level
• Minimum of ten years of experience in a similar role.
• Good grasp of each stage of the project process in the process industries.
• Good communication skills
• Driving License

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
• Member of relevant Engineering Institution
• Good commercial awareness
