The Role:
PURPOSE: The Head of Freight Forwarding - Logistics will work alongside the Contracting & Procurement and In -Country Logistics teams to provide & manage processes that allow all designated materials and
equipment cargo to be efficiently and effectively delivered to the project.

Responsibility of the position extends across both Ocean & Air Freight operations, to provide assurance to internal customers that all requirements are fully executed and fulfilled.

The operation will require the use of multi modal solutions across Freight and Transport networks and when necessary provide “hot shot” services at short notice.

Based in Dubai the candidate should also be prepared to work in Iraq for extended periods, and groom an Iraq understudy to eventually take over the role.

SCOPE & ACCOUNTABILITIES: To represent the Company in all matters relating to the movement of designated cargo from worldwide origins through to final delivery and receipt at destination. Act as the Company’s focal point to provide assurance that the appointed Logistics Service Provider (LSP) fulfils all responsibilities and conditions contained within the scope of their contract.

1. Define the Contract Management organization and assign delegated roles & responsibilities.
2. Develop and implement the Contract Management Plan (CMP).
3. Confirm that the LSP and the Company comply with the provisions of the Contract, particularly with respect to HSE, Quality, Cost, Schedule and Sustainable Development (e.g. Local Content)
4. Confirm that the LSP and any sub-contractors act in accordance with the Company’s Policies and Procedures and that ABC compliance is maintained at all times
5. Act as the Contract Holders representative to monitor and confirm that contract performance elements are delivered.
6. Coordinate and /or control all Company resources involved with the Contract .
7. Implement Global Category Strategy requirements including Global KPIs and Business Performance Reviews.
8. Monitor financial spend and manage Contract within allocated budget and approved contract value (ACV).
9. Confirm records and documents are filed and maintained in line with Company procedures.
10. Assist Contract holder to manage Contract Variations, Claims and Disputes with input from the SCM / C&P Professional.

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS/ SPECIAL CHALLENGES:
• Smooth transition from start-up through to steady state for the new Freight Forwarding Contractor.
• Maintain costs within the Budget / ACV whilst delivering full scope of work.
• Monitor & confirm the Freight Forwarding Contractor and any sub contractors deliver against the Contract in terms of HSE and operational performance.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• Educated to GCSE/O' level standard or equivalent
• 10+ years of operational experience in Freight / Logistics environment in MENA region.
• In depth experience of Customs related procedures, ideally in MENA region.
• A wide range of planning experience with regards to the transportation of high volume/ high value consignments for Ocean and Air shipments
• Exposure to challenging Customer Service situations
