This vacancy has now expired.
The Company:
Global specialty chemicals company.

The Role:
The company has a track record of successfully entering new markets and becoming market leaders, and puts R&D at the heart of everything it does. It has a reputation for innovation and speed to market which, for the right person, means a dynamic, fast paced environment, with plenty of decision making authority. As you would expect with such a business, there will also be considerable interaction with commercial functions.

This is an exciting opportunity to develop an R&D platform in order to discover new chemistries and/or synergies in oilfield chemicals. You'll develop a laboratory that can support product discovery and development to underpin the continued growth of the oilfield division. This will appeal to an experienced R&D professional with a track record of developing new products within the oilfield chemicals market, who still enjoys performing experimental work too. You will assess existing chemistries and components that the company can develop and manufacture internally, as opposed to outsourcing them, and creat an inventory of existing chemistries that have pertinent crossover application.

You'll develop key components and intermediates for corrosion inhibitors, pour point depressants, drag reducing agents, demulsifiers, scale inhibitors, asphaltene dispersants, enhanced oil recovery additives and procedures including completion and stimulation chemistries as well as H2S and mercaptan scavengers. Leading the development of new oilfield monitoring techniques, and tools such a screening tests, to enhance and optimise performance of additives in regional oilfields, you'll also provide updates of new oilfield developments and techniques and how these will impact the chemicals presently used. There will also be the chance to make technical presentations at international conferences to boost the company's oilfield technical capabilities and reputation (and your own). There will be the opportunity to support R&D efforts to collaborate with major oil companies that have upstream R&D projects, to solve existing problems in new and marginal oilfields. You will also work closely with product managers and regional oilfield specialists.

There will be a highly attractive financial package to attract the best. A relocation package will also be available.
